NVIDIA G84GLM [Quadro FX : "HDMI-1 disconnected" although connected

Hi bunsenlab community,
I am new to bunsenlabs. My old HP 8710x has a NVIDIA G84GLM [Quadro FX 1600M] graphics card. Unfortunately my monitor (DELL P2720DC) connected via HDMI shows no picture.

I'm on BunsenLabs GNU/Linux 11 (Beryllium) with kernel 5.10.0-20-amd64 x86_64

$ inxi -G
Graphics:
  Device-1: NVIDIA G84GLM [Quadro FX 1600M] driver: nouveau v: kernel
  Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.11 driver: loaded: modesetting
  unloaded: fbdev,vesa resolution: 1920x1200~60Hz
  OpenGL: renderer: NV84 v: 3.3 Mesa 20.3.5
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 8192 x 8192
LVDS-1 connected primary 1920x1200+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 367mm x 230mm
   1920x1200     59.95*+  59.88
...
VGA-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
DVI-D-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
HDMI-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

When I unplug or replug the HDMI cable the monitor shows "searching for signal" but then says "no hdmi device"
Any chance to get the monitor working? NVIDIA (340) drivers required?

Thx in advance
Clemens
PS: this question possibly fits better into "Kernel & Hardware" ?

I guess, you mean HP Compaq 8710p or  8710w, Notebook or Mobile workstation.

No dispaly if you boot to bios or boot dos?
You have verified that monitor works?

8710w

You have verified that monitor works?

I can use the monitor when booting Linux Mint 20.1 (after installing the Nvidia 340 drivers), so yes it works wink

One of my basic questions is: can an HDMI bound monitor be used with the Nouveau-drivers at all?
Or must I install Nvidia 340 drivers? See also my post/question in Topic 8003 in "Basic Help & Support" » "Nvidia 340-series driver"

So, you wont to use only external monitor? Does not the bios have a setting for video output to only external monitor? The nouveau-driver, ought to be able to serve the external monitor instead of the built in screen.

I can not test myself, do not have the hardware,

Also, have you tested attach VGA to HDMI Adapter Converter on the vga-port?
