Speed issue

lithium-3 ran perfectly, but beryllium-1 is very slow. Holding, then dragging file manager window, the screen refresh rate is very delayed. Same just playing a youtube video. Something is wrong. Is there anything i can check in terminal what is going wrong. The hardware is all the same.

Re: Speed issue

I just bought a new graphics card !

Sapphire 11166-02 Radeon HD5450 1GB HDMI PCIe Graphics Card

for the ADDITIONAL GRAPHICS SLOT PCI-E 2.0 x16 interface

I am sure it will fix the issue.

Thank you.

Re: Speed issue

New graphics card installed:

Sapphire 11166-02 Radeon HD5450 1GB HDMI PCIe Graphics Card

reinstalled, when i drag hold click a window it is slow to respond moving.

Does each version get slower? Crunchbang was a long time back, but that had real speed.

I can't tell what is wrong but is there a smaller linux you would recommend as test to see if this window dragging is across the board on linux.

It is ten years ago, Crunchbang Waldorf was released. It was based on Debian 7 "Wheezy". And, yes Wheezy was lighter than current stable debian.

Install glancess and check how hard your system works. I cant se any big difference for debian and Bunsenlabs, from present stable and oldstable or older.
I have even upgraded my old IBM TP X30, with Pentium M/500 MB Ram...

but is there a smaller linux you would recommend as test to see if this window dragging is across the board on linux.

Start with testing BL Live and compare with Debian LXQT live.

When i click hold drag the window in BL on  VLC,Synaptic Package Manager, Geany, Transmission, Calculator, Volume Control and Terminal they move instantly.

If i drag and move the windows Chromium, Firefox and Thunar, those have the 1/2 second lag.

I am interested to try Debian LXQT live as you suggest.

Re: Speed issue

So I tried LXQT "Sparky Linux", there is no window lag dragging. After 10 year of Crunchbang then Bunsenlabs I think Sparky Linux LXQT is the natural successor as the speed is superior.

Thank you for your help.
