[Beryllium] Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

Hello, I'm trying Beryllium (fresh install) and the welcome script asks if you want to install bunsen-images-archives.
However, after saying "yes" when it comes to actually start the installation it returns this error:

ERROR MESSAGE:
E: Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

I have checked and the package doesn't appear to exist in the repo indeed.
Am I doing something wrong?

Re: [Beryllium] Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

Sorry, that package has not yet been uploaded to the official repository. It's in the experimental repo at the moment. This should be fixed quite soon as the official BL repositories are being worked on right now.

Sorry for the inconvenience! m(__)m

Re: [Beryllium] Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

Is that he old bunsen-images-extra package? If so, pick and choose what you want here...

https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-im … nd/lithium

https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-images-extra

Examples...

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Bunse … m-grey.png

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Bunse … L-beam.png

I'm quite proud of these because, IIRC, reducing the banding (lines between the different colors) in the gradient to an acceptable level was quite tricky, Note that both if those walls are also available without the logo.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Okay thanks! One more question, since I'm using the experimental ISO: when all little things like this will be ready and the final release will be out, I'll simply have to do an upgrade with apt as usual and automatically get it or I'll have to do some manual steps?

I don't know TBH, but I guess so...
Anyway let me say that these are amazing! yikes BL made me stop ricing...it is already incredibly beautiful in every detail for my taste, for me it doesn't even makes sense to try to use one of my wallpapers since I have these lol
Did you do all of the artwork? Or it is a community effort? smile

Re: [Beryllium] Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

^ Community. We're going back nearly ten years from Crunchbang. Switch the branch and you can find OG stuff like this...

https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-im … d/hydrogen

Examples...

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Bunse … x1200a.png

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Bunse … 0x1080.png

I'm sure we have the original #! walls by Philip and Ohm and others somewhere, but I can't find them at the moment.

-Edit- Maybe not, we're going back a ways. BTW, this isn't a bug report. @ rbh, move this thread . I'm on mod haitus, by your request.

Edit rbh-
The thread is ontopic. It is a bug that the package bunsen-images-archives isn't available in the bunsen repos.

@hhh, your comment is slight OT. I can not move part of thread. But you can delete your comment. If you don't want to, I or other moderator should.

Re: [Beryllium] Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

Yes it is slightly OT, I didn't know it wasn't okay, I'm sorry.
Since I would like to know the answer to what I ask to johnraff, and that isn't OT, would it be okay if I just edit my comment deleting the OT part?
Sorry, just a few days passed from my registration and maybe I don't know all the rules of the forum, just looking around. Didn't mean to mess things up.

No, don't be sorry @yak! Your thread is not offtopic! You ran into a bug. The bl-welcome script for beryllium, can as of now not install package bunsen-images-archives.

Since I would like to know the answer to what I ask to johnraff, and that isn't OT,

You understood johnraffs explanation i guess.. Nothing left to explain?

would it be okay if I just edit my comment deleting the OT part?

You have nothing to delete! It was hhh who in his post forgot in which subforum he was and made an OT comment. His writing that your thread was OT, was not correct. I added a comment to his comment that Ihis comment should be deleted. Nothing you have been writing is OT and should not be deleted.

Didn't mean to mess things up.

I assure you, you have not!

Well as I wrote I'd like to know if, when final release will be out, I'll have to do nothing more of a sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade to get it, or if some manual additional steps will be required. You know, seems like an obvious question to ask, but I wanted to be sure!

Okay. Thank you for clarifying! I was confused by the edits and didn't know you could edit someone's post so I misunderstood smile

Run command "bl-welcome" in a terminal. Then you will be asked to install.
Or start synaptic, search all "bunsen-" packages, add package bunsen-images-archives, read about the others, see if you want / need more.
But, the package bunsen-images-archives is not vita. It is more "art".

You know, seems like an obvious question to ask, but I wanted to be sure!

Yes, in the beginning, it might be good to play safe.

Happy dive into BL-linux!
Examine the helpmenu and other submenus.

Re: [Beryllium] Unable to locate package bunsen-images-archives

Please, everybody take it easy. There is no problem here, nobody has anything to apologize for. smile

1) The OT is a bug report. No need to move the thread.
2) Moderators can separate individual posts from a thread.
3) Anybody can edit  their own posts if they want to, but too much deletion will make a thread very difficult to understand by people who read it later. I added strike-through like this to a couple of incorrect comments.
4) Moderators can edit or even delete anybody's post.
5) hhh is still a moderator, but he is taking a short voluntary break.

As I posted earlier, bunsen-images-archives will be arriving in the official BL repository soon. Meanwhile, hhh helpfully pointed out where the OP could find older images from previous releases, and rbh has explained how to install the package when it arrives.

This next question is slightly off the original bunsen-images-archives bug report, but since you are the Original Poster, and this is your thread, no big hammer will come down for asking:

Just do a normal apt upgrade and you'll be up to date.
