[Solved] Booting Lithium Iso has a big black box on top

Hi

I have an odd issue that I was hoping someone would know where to start.  When I boot Lithium from USB I get a large black box that covers most of the screen.  I can't select "Install" so it just boots without trouble into the "Live" system.  I also can't type "e" to edit the boot line.

Just for yucks I tried Beryllium and the same issue occurred.   The hardware is a Dell XPS 13 inch and I swapped out the wifi card for an intel card.  It runs FreeBSD and Arch but I do want Bunsenlab because that is what I use on my two other workstations.

Thanks

OK.  I solved the issue by doing a bit more searching.   Others had a similar problem when making a bootable USB using UNetbootin.  I had use Balena Etcher, which caused a simular issue.

Solved by just using good old "dd".

I say it all the time, nothing beats dd.

Thanks for solving it.   big_smile

Another gui USB creator that does work is the Live USB from antix/mx  https://github.com/MX-Linux/lum-qt-appi … g/19.11.02

Thanks @sleekmason.  I will give that a try because I am going to reinstall everything from scratch.  I will be trying a base Debian install to get encryption (its a laptop) and use netinstall to get Bunselab.  I have never used netinstall -- more fun.
