This would do nicely price wise to be sure! Sounds like a good possible solution to me.

This says a lot:

It's not a program, it's a service. And since it's free, the users are the product.

Limited to 250 users.

Another learning experience.  No worries. I am really enjoying the Flarem experience in general, so I suppose I'll have to take a further look. I would imagine I should be able to transfer everything over, (this is supposed to be possible) but really have no idea.  Looks like the next adventure begins:)

No matter I reckon. I will try to create a full forum whether it's flarum or something else.  If it doesn't work out, then so be it.

Maybe this is the way to go anyway. If I get to a hundred users, I'll know it heading the right direction and should expand.

Now that you set it up perhaps @johnraff and @hhh ought to take a look at it to see if it would fit their needs. The theme could be easily set to BL's current Fluxbb theme I am sure. I like the flow of flarum so it's the best of both a traditional forum and a blog.

I logged in to my server to check what forums they offer. I could still add others if I needed to.

I would think Flarem would fit their needs nicely but they have a huge "needs" difference I think than what I do.

Just a really interesting experience getting it set up, and I don't know that I would tackle the next step with the same enthusiasm if it weren't for the freeflarum setup. It's kind of strange with it's "tags" system, where everything is a tag, but wow the extensions to be added. Looking forward to seeing what I can do here.

^ Looks like a reasonable solution to me, though I know little about any of the forums listed I bet I can make something work nicely. I need to study up a bit.

Re: New ISO build to try.

How funny.  The whole problem @johnraff has been discussing is slowly revealing itself to me as I read up on the whole process. Lots of choices. Not all of them good, and some that are just outdated.  I guess research is in order:)

Sometimes being blind on the front end serves it's purposes. I know what I'm looking for now anyway. Hoping Flarem will still be a possibility when I'm finished. This will all work out one way or the other.

Re: New ISO build to try.

Flarem is intended for 250 users. BL has 44 pages of 50 users on each page in their user list.

So there's that. wink

Wasn't that just the freeflarum that had the 250 limit?  Flarem itself claims to be the successor to FluxBB. https://docs.flarum.org/

Edit* lol. One of the things I'm seeing is that nothing is going to be as easy as the freeflarum setup was.

I don't know.
Like buttons are for me like Facebook, it uses (almost) everyone and thus loses the actual purpose and becomes pointless for the user.   tongue  lol

You could try installing Flarum according to their docs in a test VM to get the hang of the setup and then when you feel comfortable you can then go set it up on your hosted server.

Kind of a "tongue in cheek" thing:) Only partially serious.  What I would like is an "acknowledgment" button.  Something that lets folks know that there post was seen, especially when two people are going back and forth in a thread and one just wants the other to know they saw it.

Not quite sure what that would look like yet:)

Good idea! I need to learn more about hosting services and what they offer.

If I understood @eight.bit.al correctly, the server he uses allows for all the possibilities shown in his screenshot, but nothing else?

Anyway, this is all totally new to me, as I suppose it would be for anybody.  Not like theirs a huge market to start forums for no reason:)  I'm on it now though.  We'll see what I can come up with.

I think it's - the things offered in the screenshot have an easy setup process by the host but is not limited to those things.

@sleekmason, I see that you have a new Lilidog Iso available for download.  I am going to download it and try it out.  Still trying to get one of them to install and get past the "configuring wifi" part.  Wish me luck!

The forum site for lilidog.org may be down for a day or two. Sorry for the inconvenience while I get things sorted out with the server.
