Did Microsoft Block Linux On New Thinkpads ?

I saw this thread on the AntiX forum and thought people here might want to have a look at it as well. If the OP's impressions are correct, the days of being able to dual boot Windows and Linux on the same computer may be coming to an end thanks to Windows 11's Secure Boot feature;

To be fair to Microsoft, I've included a link to what they themselves say about Secure Boot;

By default. User has to go into the BIOS and enable Microsoft’s third-party UEFI.

One more hurdle and a reminder to spec your hardware before purchase if you want to install Linux.

You must unlearn what you have learned.

Saw something about this on the MX Linux forum, like I said there MS will just point to WSL2 and say 'See, you can still run Linux'.

My newest ThinkPad is a 2018 model, it will probably be the newest forever.

Thanks Jeffrey and PackRat for your replies. Looks as though it's getting harder to dual boot between Linux and Windows, but you can still do it if you get a Lenova laptop?

Most low-end new laptops have secure boot locked permanently on so those will be a no-go for dual boot, so as others say look elsewhere for laptops that are easy to set linux up on. Dell and HP do have models that play nice with Linux.

Yes, and even most ThinkPads work with Linux.
For more info on ThinkPads and which work with Linux I would suggest the ThinkPad reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/

There are quite a few on there who use Linux on their ThinkPads, including some very new models.
