Thanks sleekmason but I'm still feeling bad because I know I stuffed up here. I should have read the review properly before I posted it here thinking you and others would be glad I'd done so.
Absolutely please do not feel bad. I AM glad you posted it:) I'm certainly an "out and in the open" kind of person. I have no fear of being wrong. I learn much more quickly having already made the attempt once.
Here in the "real" world, I worked for many years on custom masonry projects that could take months to complete, with parts always left undone at various stages for the whole world to see. These types of situations make for much patience and "truth" building, as you are either good enough to pull it off AND get repeat customers, or not, and there is no "trying". In all of my work through all of the years, if I've learned one thing; everybody's truth becomes evident in the crunch, and I need not worry about others, because they surely have their own problems.
I think most here would be surprised to meet me. My experience online has been an incredible challenge for me, breaking into a world that I generally do not fit into, and having to deal with social issues that in the "real" world wouldn't really exist.
Anyway, it is all good, having raised a family, been successful in my career, and loved by my wife with the same passion we started with, it doesn't take but a minute or two in most of these situations to see them for what they are. Please don't ever feel bad for either exposing the liar, or the truth. One doesn't matter, and the other doesn't care.

You should never underestimate your talents Sleek...you may be a successful mason but you do seem to do well with coding stuff and you built a nice little distro (with help and suggestions from the community).
Don't fret...keep on with this nice little hobby you got going and may Lilidog rest in peace and her name live on in your little distro!

I always doublecheck reviews when I read them and if had read that negative review of Lilidog I would have made Sleek aware and to perhaps reach out to the reviewer. Most reviews seem to be hastily done and without taking care to doublecheck things as a bad download could corrupt the ISO or that the image being used was out of date.
Yes, I think the main thing reviewers don't take into account is the old saying "YMMV" (Your Mileage May Vary).
It's not unusual for me to find a problem with something here that no one else does (the blurring of the menus in Cinnamon is the main one that comes to mind). Now, imagine that I was writing a review of Cinnamon on Distrowatch and taking my opinion of it as definitive; would I be being fair to the Cinnamon devs, or to all the people who used Cinnamon without a problem? No I wouldn't.
^^ Thanks Sleek, I appreciate it.

@Sleek, maybe you should post a comment on that review to get things clarified.
Nah, I'm now looking at the big picture:) The author gives Lilidog exposure it otherwise would not have, and there is a long list of distros that deserved to get trashed reviewed ahead of mine.
This, coupled with the fact that nothing of consequence was discussed, and a challenge to take a look was given to the community as a whole, I can only conclude they tried Lilidog, thought it was absolutely fantastic, and wanted it out in the main even though it's only been on distrowatch for 6 months (They talk up how it will take more than a year).
^Keeping a positive attitude here:)
So now as far as I am concerned, the author knew exactly what they were doing, and were not concerned with the possible outcome, knowing either Lilidog sucks as stated, or not, and most folks like to find out these things for them selves. I can only see it as a boon now.
Strange world we live in. The beauty of this is that even if I am wrong, It doesn't matter in the least. If anything, I should write a note of thanks.

Hey Sleekmason
You're doing a great job with Lilidog distro,
I am not a Debian fan, but I had fun with Lilidog in Virtualbox, I am very impressed. Interesting ideas, scripts and really great themes.
Keep doing it ... we need more good Openbox distributions

Yes, I'm using LiliDog now (having installed it some time ago) and it's running fine.

Most reviews seem to be hastily done...
Too true. So many reviews of BunsenLabs I read and want to point something out that the reviewer missed. But these guys have their job to do - another day another distro to check out - so there's no point in attaching too much importance to what they say.
@sleek, I checked out Lilidog and it worked fine for me. But it's also true that, as the Distrowatch guy said, there are already other simple openbox-based distros around and I'm perfectly happy using BunsenLabs as my daily driver. Linux is about choice.
PS Apart from Lilidog, @sleekmason's theming skills are beyond doubt, and BL Beryllium is proof of that.

Lilidog's got an advantage over Bunsen in that it's based from the get-go on Debian Bullseye (as is CrunchBang++), which is better for those who prefer Bullseye to Buster and don't want to have to upgrade.

^Yes, true that.
...sigh. Things keep intervening but a Beryllium iso should be available soon. It's all been pretty much in place for ages, as anyone who uses the experimental repo can probably confirm, but Real Life has ways of getting in the way.
So Kudos to @sleekmason and Computermouth for getting their releases out on time.

Fair enough John. It seems it's impossible to say anything in this thread though without stepping on somebody's toes.

^ Thanks all!
Any reviews are good reviews for Lilidog right now. Just adds exposure, and Lilidog will change as required when issues are found, and I don't mind finding/fixing such things at all.
I realized Lilidog will either be decent enough to keep around or not, and what I think only matters in terms of how well I perceive what others might want, and my ability to provide such features. After that, she's either good enough to stand on her own feet, or I just need to do something different. No worries, and no sweat.
Anyhow, next release barring something needing to happen sooner will probably be around the 1st of July. Will be adding in the time zone changer to tint2 as it really is a good idea. Not much else will change in the next release except for that, a few icon changes, and some package updates. More interesting changes will occur in the winter months when I have more free time.
*edit - Yeah, they were all good suggestions. Changing the font type to noto, and some of the sizes as well.
Thanks everybody for your support. No way any of this happens without you guys providing insight and helping when I've not been able to succeed. A community effort whether you know it or not!

No no, I don't think you really are stepping on any toes and at least we made Sleek feel better.

^ indeed:)
I did go ahead and write a thank you letter apologizing for the problems the author had, and asked to be reviewed again based on their error with the installer, and the fact that the version reviewed was two versions behind, with enormous changes since. In the end, they had some points to consider. Already have the time zone changer done:)
I really can't imagine they will take the time to do another review, justified or not, as there seems to be much to do there at Distrowatch, so I'm good either way. Just glad to be doing any of this at all really, and glad it is noticed one way or the other.

Not mine, certainly.
The need to get Be out has been weighing on my shoulders for it seems like months now, and no-one is to blame for pointing out what's obvious.
As for that DW review, Phineas T. Barnum once said "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

BTW Distrowatch seems to be broken for me right now - just the banner at the top and then blank white below. Same on Firefox and Chromium. Does it work for others?

Have you got enough yet to be able to put out an alpha release of Beryllium, at the least, so that people can test it and report back to you about any bugs they find?
