I was serious at first. VSIDO was a good Sid alternative in its day. These days I just drop into the VSIDO forum to delete any spam. I'm kind of surprised vastone kept the forum up the last year.
If you boot a Sid live session like Siduction, can you build a lilidog iso? I don't have a computer to install Sid to metal, and I don't care for VMs
I liked VSIDO and it surely was a great little distro and I also drop in to look around there too.

I don't know how many visit the vsido forum these days, but for a while, vsido links were in the top 10 results for fluxbox and sid searches.
Anyway don't want to derail this thread.
Keep up the good work sleekmason.

No worries:) I think you probably could build in a live session with enough ram, or using a directory in home for cloning Lilidog-Sid, to then be accessed from the live cd during the build process. Seems like both should work. Really not sure, but I'm going to find out and will let you know. I'm interested as well. Neat idea if it works!

That's how I was trying it before. Cloned the repo to a build directory, then booted a Debian live session - but Debian Stable, not Sid. One build went to completion but failed to boot with a kernel panic. Couple other tries just failed to build.

Yep, failed experiment there. I tried both ways. Had high hopes. There's probably a way to do it but not worth the hassle.

New release Lilidog-22.05.12 https://sourceforge.net/projects/lilidog/
I didn't think I would get a chance to make these changes until later in the summer because of work.
Fortunately it rained for 4 days in a row here so I could get this done. Anyhow, in this release:
Added two tools from MX/antiX. Namely, the Live USB Maker (antiX version),and ddm-mx (Nvidia driver installer).
The Live USB Maker works without issue here, allowing for persistance on those distros that provide the feature. Lilidog will
in the future . .
I've only been able to test the nvidia driver installer on two cards, quadro 600k, and quadro 4000 (legacy), but
both went through the process just fine for either standard or backports install.
Created a virtualbox (Oracle Edition) installer, A Google Earth installer, and a Bullseye backports
kernel installer. All of the program installers toggle the repo sources on and off during script
use only so you don't have long update times. (Not the backports repo).
Changed the installer menu to a sub menu system for all of the installers. Much better format.
Changed the quick theme menu in the tint2 tray to a more usable state. (Man, this was bugging me!)
Added a background of Beardog to be included in the Grub-bg folder, and as default for the Minimal build.
We lost Bear recently as well and it seemed fitting to include him in a grub background.
Changed out a couple more icons in the menu to better reflect the programs associated.
Reckon that's about it, as work has certainly skyrocketed and my time will be limited for a while.
I just thought it would be better to release now rather than wait for the month to roll by for no good reason:)

Sorry for your loss Sleek, and very nice you honoring him in a grub background in your little distro. I'll give this one a spin. I may test this on my big rig and trying out the nvidia installer as that machine has an nvidia card. If I see anything awry I'll give you a shout.

Tested with a Quadro 2000D and a Quadro K2200. All good.

Sorry guys. I didn't realize Lilidog was such a "copy up" failure with nothing new to add.
Seems like nobody can even get it installed. What a shame. Guess I'll remove it from everywhere here pretty quick.
Reckon this ends my journey here. I had hoped to make something special and useful. Apparently What I thought I had accomplished wasn't even in the realm of usable, let alone useful. I must be a real idiot.
So sorry for wasting everyone's time. Thanks for all of your help though. Very kind of everybody to let me work on something when I needed to so badly due to Lili's death. Guess I'll stick with laying brick and leave you guys alone.
Should I remove my other posts too? At this point, I can only assume I am just not very bright, and pushed myself into an area I didn't belong. Wouldn't be the first time. Sorry again folks.

Did I miss something? You did a great job with this distro and I have seen nothing wrong with it
EDIT: Upon reading that review there seems perhaps there's a bug in the installer that the reviewer must have hit. Can anyone reproduce the bug as I couldn't. What may come to mind is a bad download on the user's part and you have md5sums for your iso's correct?
Sleek, maybe reach out to that reviewer if possible and see if this person can step thru the install with you to determine if this is a real bug or something involving user's hardware. I for one want to see if this is something that's for real or just someone taking a malicious dig at your work.

It's time for the Blue Camaro Story.
Many years ago when I lived in Miami FL., I was way out in the country south of the city. I was on a two lane, rural road. It happens to cross US1, which runs from the northern tip of Maine to the southern tip of Key West. At that point, US1 was 6 lanes, 3 south and 3 north. The light for the country road took a long time to change, giving priority to US1. As I was coming up to the crossing, I saw the light for me, turn green.
"Oh boy, I'm gunna make the light!", as I hit the gas. Coming the other way was a blue Camaro driven by a fella with the same thought. I was haullin' ass, he was haullin' ass. Only he wanted to make a left onto US1 and I was going straight across, so I had the right-of-way.
I'm goin' for it; he's goin' for it. Well at the last second he had to slam on his brakes and yield.
I was going to a grocery store just across the intersection. The store was busy that day, so I had to park way out in the lot. As I'm walking up to the store; here comes the Blue Camaro down the parking lane.
He pulls up, lowers his window and bitched his head off. When he was done I said, "If you can race for it, I can race for it. Don't be a sore looser" He looks up at me and says, "White trash!"
I burst out laughing because at that moment I realized it was up to me who I gave the power to hurt me. It would be my fault if I valued his opinion.

Sorry, thought you'd be glad it was getting some exposure. For what it's worth I'm using it with no problems so I think that review was too negative. Maybe I should have read it more carefully before linking to it.
Guess it's easy to act as judge and jury concerning other people's efforts. If it's any consolation, I don't know that Lili had died so I'm feeling bad about this myself.

Thank you all for your kind words.
Yes, I see it as a hit piece.
No, I'm not going anywhere.
My reply was the only one to give because of the possibility it is true. That maybe I am completely deluded, and should pursue some other activity, like cliff jumping or Russian roulette.
The author picked an item (installer partitioner) that I have no control over, and no way to refute whether their copy works or not. It certainly did for everyone I spoke with. Of course the majority of linux users won't know that.
The author then picked on the font size, which we all know is screen size dependent, the color scheme for some reason, though you can change it with the click of a button, and the clock of all things to lament the lack of a timezone changer that the installer clearly does for you upon install. What a silly and trivial thing to moan about. I would be happy to add this feature though. Sounds like a cool thing.
In all this, the author uses a copy of Lilidog that is two months old for their review. Are they serious about their work?
Anyway, it is absolutely silly, and after about two minutes of thought, I saw it clearly for what it was. The cool part is that they reviewed it at all, and so more exposure for people to try something new if they want.
On the other hand, if Lilidog really is that bad, just tell me now. Now is a good time to call it if I need to. No sweat off my back in the end. I have a full life that doesn't involve computers at all.
@DeepDayze, Thank you for replying in the positive about Lilidog. I needed to see that to reply further, or I was going to delete Lilidog if nobody said anything. I don't really have a big enough group of people sampling Lilidog to make sure I'm not blowing it all over the place. I know of a couple of issues I'm still working on. Better safe than sorry.
@eight.bit.al, Thank you for sharing your story. It was awesome, and a reminder about people I need to hear on occasion, including this one.
@ Colonel Panic, No, all good, and IS good exposure. Thank you for posting the review. And on Lili, yeah, November of 2020 now. As others have said, I will have to think long about finding another four legged friend to share life with:)

Thanks sleekmason but I'm still feeling bad because I know I stuffed up here. I should have read the review properly before I posted it here thinking you and others would be glad I'd done so.
I just looked at Distrowatch this morning, saw that Lilidog had been reviewed and after a cursory look thought, "Oh goody, I'll share that on the Bunsen forum." Lesson learned (I hope).

@Sleek, maybe you should post a comment on that review to get things clarified.

I always doublecheck reviews when I read them and if had read that negative review of Lilidog I would have made Sleek aware and to perhaps reach out to the reviewer. Most reviews seem to be hastily done and without taking care to doublecheck things as a bad download could corrupt the ISO or that the image being used was out of date.
