Re: BL SSD discussion thread

Ok, let's try this

My new SSD

Ummm, no. I'm using the img= stuff with a url, but it's not doing what I think it should.

Never mind. Mega apparently does not allow public sharing.

If you have an SSD, Welcome to the dark side!

Well I've just moved to the dark side for Linux on the laptop.  Been there ages for Windows.

Must say tracking down & then using sedutil to enable the encryption, & changing the sleep mode from s3 since it's not supported for SEDs was an adventure, complicated by my choice of init to be fair, tons of results for how to tweak sleep modes using SystemD for those of you thinking it's a trivial web search. SysVinit systems not quite so easy to find, s2idle & hibernate now sorted though, including tweaking bl-exit (copied to ~/bin/bl-exit) to add a hibernate button, a really easy tweak btw, literally just add a line to the yad.

I'm liking how the system performs though.

Re: BL SSD discussion thread

Honestly SSDs are great, I can never go back to spinning disks, at least for non-NAS systems.

Lots has happened since I created this thread, but essentially I have a desktop with a Samsung 980 Pro 500GB, and I'm always impressed with the performance it has under Arch Linux (or any distro really let's be honest).

Though there are more SSDs, one of them being for /home for example lmao.
