Re: New ISO build to try.

Just installed. Saw the 'dog' GRUB screen.

Boots very fast. Really a lot here. Will take a while to see it all.

If you're looking for more to do, let me suggest the Calamares Installer. You can let the users choose what to install in fine detail.

Good! Yes, please let me know how it goes.

On calamares, I'm game. It certainly looks interesting. Thanks for the link. One of those items I know I'm going to need some hours on, so may be a bit:)

@unklar, I agree with you that there are some areas that are best to leave alone if at all possible:) Grub is a good candidate. Let the user deal with their own actions there.  Maybe I'll do something in the future after learning a bit more.

Another bonus is installing from the live ISO without a reboot. wink

Thanks for taking a look and I suspect there may be something wrong with my install onto bare metal as just get a black grub screen with white menu. May attempt a reinstall.

Re: New ISO build to try.

Okay got Lilidog up and running now as did a total reinstall and the weird grub issues went away and now I get the backgrounds in grub. Seems something might have barfed during the install somewhere and messed up grub, but it's all good now and looks nice!

Re: New ISO build to try.

Right finally downloading it. I'm going with sid, let's get crazy. Feedback when it happens (3-4 hours if I don't have issues).

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Re: New ISO build to try.

Less than that, the Live session is working great! Very nice effort, @sleekmason! Nice attention to most of the details, I particularly like your default notifications.

Is there a menu entry for enabling touchpad-tap support? I had to enable via the openbox autostart file...

### Items currently activated.
. $HOME/.fehbg &
synclient VertEdgeScroll=0 HorizEdgeScroll=0 TapButton1=1 2>/dev/null

Definitely will install it soon, great job.

Had no idea! Is this an option that can be left enabled for everybody? or do I need to assign a toggle of some sort?  Will be added as soon as know this:)

EDIT* Looks like it is not an issue! Added for next release.
EDIT 2*  Forgot to mention that the sid version is one release behind. Fixin' to be two if the don't get things right in the installer soon! smile

@eight.bit.al, That is awesome to hear:)

Okay, I'll look at Calamares after the next release.  I'm excited about it.

Re: New ISO build to try.

Okie dokie, here are the list of changes for the next release, which may happen sooner rather than later now that I know I was missing some touchpad settings.  If you can think of anything else, let me know.  No worries if you are not sure, if interested, ask anyway!

These probably take care of some of those little visual items that are bothersome over extended use.

Changed xfce4-terminal to no longer scroll on output. (Very annoying when trying to work.)
Added wget and plymouth-themes to package list. (routine maintenance.)
Added some color to most of the terminal scripts.
removed Nala updater. (For individual use, Nala rocks!)
removed stopwatch from tint2
removed timer icon from tint2
removed lock from tint2, use the Logout dialog to lock.
added multitimer to clock Right Click in tint2.
Replaced icons in both the places and recents menus to Breeze.
Exchanged recents and places buttons in Tint2.
Changed the Minimal edition menu to use the Breeze icons in menu.
Added a network check to all install scripts. Need feedback if there are issues.
Changed default lxterminal.conf to use Jet Brains Mono Light. (If installed).
Changed default urxvt to use Jet Brains Mono Light.
Synclient and syndaemon settings for touchpad included in openbox autostart.

^Is it really necessary to offer a sid version?
I mean, you are alone.

I know this from antiX(17) with sid without systemd. The developer has more or less permanently to do the important packages to align. Mostly it goes well in the maximum case ~1 year and, if then bigger transition come, it crashes.
Who always needs the latest Softweare, should install sid (or, like me, siduction), because there "both Repo's" are right.

My two cents.   smile

Not at all necessary really:)  I have to spend a lot of time in sid, repeatedly, meaning I have to go over EVERYTHING again. every. single. time. which is a royal pain in the butt!

You are right in that there are a couple of decent sid options being maintained with separate repos <-- and this really is the only way to get around the various issues I keep having.

I do not plan on carrying a separate repo though. That would defeat the purpose of what I am doing in this area:) No dependency on anything other than deb repos, and the occasional added package).

In any event, my sid version is now falling far enough behind that if the packages don't get aligned, there will be no point in keeping it in the install list!

So, here is what I am going to do.  I am going to remove the sid install from Sourceforge, but will offer this:  If anybody wants a sid version that they are unable to create themselves, I will periodically put out an updated version upon request, if able.

If Sleek were to do an Arch based version of Lilidog it be called ArchDog smile

Good to see the ArchLabs guys giving a good review of Sleek's work. Arch and Debian are two different things united by one thing: Linux.

@DeepDayze, Ha! Archdog:) That has a ring to it.  We have a Yorkie named bear that also hikes with us and is quite the standout from others of the breed, forced marches and all. Nah, he actually leads from the front and we have trouble keeping up. Thought about naming the minimal edition Beardog. I'll post a funny pic anyway.

Sid is now off the table. Thank you all for helping me get it sorted. Bit of a relief to not have to keep checking all the time.
