March 2022 Screenshots

This is where you can post screenshots of your setup, as long as it's in line with our rules...

Please use thumbnails. Do not embed images larger than approx 250x250px (62,500px) into posts, use thumbnails linking to a hosted image instead. Thanks!

Various online free image hosts are available, such as Imgur, imgbb, freeimage.host, postimg.cc, etc...

Let's see those scrots!

This post is obviously late, thanks to @jeffreyC for pointing it out to me.

No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

Re: March 2022 Screenshots

^Very nice. I like very much. I downloaded the minimal_64 (because I'm looking for replacements for helium and lithium). Still, this look just blows me away. I wonder how you do it as a lone ranger.

Keep in mind though, less is sometimes more. It's a fine line, after all, the LINUX and the use of the terminal is a main feature of this OS.  wink

Yes indeed!  Most everything I wanted to have as the base features are now there.  There shouldn't really be any more additions to the desktop as such, only more optimization of how the items interact with each other or updated versions thereof.

I ask my wife frequently if she can understand what I am doing She knows very little of computers in general. If the positioning of items makes sense to her, I go with it through a release or two to see if it works.  Almost everything I add goes through a bunch of revisions to make things as natural as possible.

My concept is: Can I get the desktop I want to see and use in under a minute of tweaking from installation, and not feel like there is anything missing.  Right-click options, panel options, and menu options should all reflect the easiest user environment possible. (of course).

So, it kind of goes through waves of optimization, though now much less so as most items are in place where they will stay. Next round in a month or so will see a couple of menu entries removed, a few scripts updated, and a necessary? package or two added/deleted. Overall, I am at the point where most wouldn't notice any changes, as everything should always "just work."

Also, for those that may be wondering, Lilidog is NOT based on Bunsenlabs. Everything in Lilidog was originally based on an lxde build, which contains Openbox as the window manager.

Almost everything in Lilidog starts with original customizations of all the base items like tint2, openbox, and jgmenu.

I think I only have three packages specifically from BL. The hot corners script, a helper script for that, and a helper script for Thunar, not to show two right-click options for the background.

However; Lilidog would not exist without the help I have received from the Bunsen Labs folk.
Damn near every difficult item I have encountered I have brought here for help, and have received it.
You will find numerous items that reflect the nature of BL because Bunsen Labs IMO is an awesome distro with the best forums on the web. Of course I always try to give in return.

For the future, (a few months?) look for improved themes, New panel icons, possible Fluxbox addition or alternative, and more.

Well now, all of that was very wordy:)

For those interested, here are the basic changes made since 2-19-21 https://sourceforge.net/p/lilidog/discu … 9d02e41c9/

Would LOVE to have more people giving me insight as well. Questions and comments are ALWAYS welcome. I certainly don't claim to know everything as those who have been here for a while can attest to.

One of my new favorite phrases goes something like: "Nobody laughs at the camel if it doesn't fly very far."

Re: March 2022 Screenshots

Wow you almost got me thinking you are running good ol' Windows Vista 8) till I saw the K symbol on start button and the command in the terminal (which eerily resembles Windows' command prompt).

Where you get that theme from?

Yes, proper stable! It's only running on a thin client too but is fine for all day to day usage. I love it!

Re: March 2022 Screenshots

I'll include other themes, and the default isn't decided on yet. Thanks for the feedback, to the guy who posted this as an example...

Would you mind posting your .conkyrc in the "Show us your conky" section? Looks good to me.

Re: March 2022 Screenshots

^ Very clean! Nice.

I realized this theme was basically Win XP SP2 "Royale Noir", so I added the wrong Windows icons.
