Is this where Norbert Preining's tweaks comes in?
I do not understand the meaning of this sentence in the translation. Can you rephrase it again.

Are his tweaks about cutting down RAM foot-print and boosting responsiveness or something else?

No.
Among other things, he made sure that Debian 11 "Bullseye" could be shipped with a very up-to-date (for Debian) version 5.20 of the Plasma desktop. In addition, Norbert has always provided Debian Testing and Unstable users with current versions of Plasma, KDE Frameworks and KDE Gears via the OBS build service.
By the way, what comparison are you making with RAM, in a VM,
MX21-KDE-plasma5.23 <--> siduction-KDE-plasma5.23 ?

@unklar, I think he means Lennart Poettering (systemd, pulse-audio, and whatever he's been up to lately).
The bullseye version is smooth as silk on my ten-year-old, 3G Ram laptop (1G being used by the desktop, but it doesn't go much above that unless I open a dozen tabs in a browser. Gimp, Inkscape, Audacity and Ardour are all working fine)...
Maybe Plasma in unstable isn't fully uploaded yet.

No.
:-)
I had to double-check and here is my comparison including mx with XFCE.
Distro RAM (native/htop)
Siduction Plasma 5.23.4 916M/663M
mx Plasma 5.20.5 491M/622M
mx XFCE 4.16 768M/552M
The difference between native system monitor tools and htop is odd I think.

^For me, such comparisons are actually always like comparing apples with oranges...
No, Martin, I don't think you can compare.
If this is in a VM, the conditions are not right either.
- Plasma versions
- Kernel
- is mx running here with systemd ?
Since yesterday I already have on metal this difference:

The with htop we had already in connection with conky and a contribution of @Nili to the RAM consumption (I can not find now). I think it was changes in the kernel and if or how the developers have already incorporated that in their tools (htop; bashtop; byotop etc.pp).
and, if I put the right 'weight' of the two side by side, I'm sure you'll roll your eyes even more

Bento Openbox Editions
antiX Linux with Openbox
https://downloads.linuxvillage.org/
antiX Linux (https://antixforum.com) is used as a basis to provide an i486 edition for some of the very old computers, one i686 PAE edition for some less old computers, and an x86_64 edition for all 64bits capable machines
Whereas antiX Linux comes with several light desktop environments for the user to choose, Bento antiX provides a single one, built around the Openbox Window Manager ( http://openbox.org/wiki/Main_Page ) which is simple to use and customize to your liking.

Shout out to @malm, jgmenu is being picked up by distros right and left.
Example, the new Garuda Linux Qtile LIVE ISO release...

I'll upload a screenshot in a few minutes.

I loved Next, NextStep, AfterStep, and LiteStep (shell for windoze) and the whole family.
Bumped. I don't think there's been a new release of WM Live for more than four years, but if anyone's still interested in Window Maker itself it's still going and the latest release has an intelligent maximising option, as on Fvwm and Openbox - so you can expand a window up to where its border touches that of another one, so that there's no overlap between the two.
There's also a site with a lot of great themes for it;

Thanks for that, I'll have a look later. AntiX was one of the first distros I used and it still runs great on old equipment. The only problem I've had with it was that XOrg tends to break on my machine, necessitating a reinstall.
I thought this was a good link about AntiX with openbox too;

I never uploaded a scrot of Garuda because it kept crashing on my old hardware before I could take one. Qtile was really high on resources in LIVE mode, 1.5G for the desktop at boot. Again, probably my old hardware.

Good ol' Slack still chugs along nicely and that's the first distro I installed back in 1994..Slack 2.0. Good to see it's all grown up!

Tried it out briefly on a virtual machine yesterday evening. Nice first impression despite refusing to let me change keyboard layout.

Xfce4 on Bunsenlabs Beryllium using the new Twister UI...
This was troublesome, unnecessary, doesn't offer anything extra that BLOB already offers and I'll probably regret having installed it. So, for posterity.

^ On the plus side, I do like my new Neofetch screen, and I've successfully restored my BunsenLabs session to what it was, so all good for now.
