I am trying to install Flatpak.... I installed it off the debian repo but when I try to install anything I get this message...
Note that the directories
'/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share'
'/home/itisme/.local/share/flatpak/exports/share'
are not in the search path set by the XDG_DATA_DIRS environment variable, so
applications installed by Flatpak may not appear on your desktop until the
session is restarted.
Is that something to worry about... and if I should add these dirs ... how do I do it?
Thank you.

I have the same question. Anyone else experiencing this?

"...until the session is restarted" suggests to me it's worth trying logging out & back in or rebooting & seeing what happens afterwards.
Blessed is he who expecteth nothing, for he shall not be disappointed...
If there's an obscure or silly way to break it, but you don't know what.. Just ask me

I am sure you can add those paths to the XDG_DATA_DIRS environment variable if you want automatic updating of installed apps rather than waiting till logout/reboot

I'm sure you can too, but that takes explaining how, I'd have to do a web search & read up, I'm lazy, people already know how to reboot.
