Trying to setup Android Phone as Webcam

I am using IRIUN to stream video and mic audio from my android phone to my desktop PC thru USB.

The video seems to be working fine, Zoom or Google Meet recognizes iriun webcam video input.

But, the audio from microphone is not there. This is my output from aplay -l

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****

I tried recording sound on Audacity, and the input from phone microphone is coming up in Loopback PCM:hw(1,1). I was observing the Recording tab under pavucontrol, no applcations were showing up there.

I don't know where to go from here. How can I get pulseaudio to recognize the sound input coming up in Loopback PCM hw(1,1) ??

Should I be looking at /etc/pulse/ default.pa file ??

Just curious... why don't you just zoom, skype, etc directly from your phone? There are numerous apps and the ones I'm aware of work just fine.

Re: Trying to setup Android Phone as Webcam

I usually attend language classes on Zoom, the teacher shares her screen, it is easier to read on a wider screen.

Another reason, when I am hosting a study session with my friends, I want to share my screen, all my study-stuff is in my system.

Yo have a camera on your phone but not on your computer, hence you need to use the phone as camera?

There is other solutions than your chośen. Have you examined any other solution?

Re: Trying to setup Android Phone as Webcam

I did a similar thing using Droidcam to connect a phone to a laptop as an additional camera to the laptop internal.   I've seen people doing this to livestream events as well using multiple cameras - Zoom and similar apps generally have a multiple camera switch toggle.

Other use cases - phone cam is much better quality than a laptop cam or laptop cam is broken.

Using droidcam there is an option to stream audio from the phone mike instead of the laptop mike but I never tried it.  Maybe you could experiment with droidcam Rocky and see if that helps the situation.
