I am new to bunsenlabs, and love the experience so far. It is exactly what I am looking for. I just have one problem, when trying to setup my external monitor(which is mounted above my laptop) my laptop monitor stops functioning properly.

Have you tried with compositing OFF? (Menu > Compositor > Disable)

Oh. That worked. What was that?

It is called "screen tearing". I bet you have recent Intel graphics - try the fix here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/in … cs#Tearing.
Or try a different "vsync" setting in the compositor: Menu > Preferences > Compositor > Edit Compositing Settings

Trying a different "vsync" setting worked.

I also had this issue - I found that right after I enable the extra monitor in RandR, I then had to reset wallpaper (also had to reset conky), and everything is fine (for the current session).

Top-down monitor setup with horizontal panel splitting the desktop in the middle usually works badly in openbox. If you see other strange issues, you can try a vertical panel layout.

^ OT, nice to see you still posting here, o9000 (developer and maintainer of tint2)!
No, he can't sleep on the floor. What do you think I'm yelling for?!!!

Actually I have taken a break from open source work, but I still hang around this friendly community
