^, ^^, It's just more USB cables coming out the sides and I got rid of the supporting box. It's still this, more or less, except it's the old Inspiron instead of the slightly less-old Latitude...

Ah yes, my bad. Buy some speaker stands and put your speakers just behind and a couple of feet above your table, away from all those treble reflecting screens, you bum.
Giving me crap for a 2x4 while using oatmeal cans himself, jerk. Where's your subwoofer, and which way is it facing?

Whoa, where is this hostility coming from. Is that how you represent the forum as a moderator.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Nice; now raise the speakers so the axis of the speaker cones is at ear level.

If that's giving you crap, your sensitivity knob is set to 11.
And more bad example from a moderator.

Not only raise them (when you get a real desk
speaker stands) but angle them towards you. Which you can do right now.

Okay, maybe the tiniest bit of crap leaked through, and immediately taken back.

I found a 24" Dell monitor with a removable stand and in great condition, no screen chips and only one shallow, very narrow 2mm scratch, the plastics are all good too. It was left for trash in front of an apartment when some tenant moved out. I figured I'd buy a used VGA cable at the local thrift shop (neither of my old Dell laptops output HDMI). They never had any, so I finally ordered one online for $5.
Uh, the monitor works perfectly. And it turns out it's 10 years old or so but it's a good one, a U2412M UltraSharp...

I'm an idiot for not doing this sooner (I've had the thing for a year), the picture is a HUGE upgrade (sorry for the crooked photo, the light grey vertical stripe on the right of the screen is just the bezel reflecting sunlight from the window, I had the shades open fully. The screen is pretty close to flawless)...
Anyway, score one more on my list of ultra-cheap computer hardware.

Nice. Yeah my setup looks impressive, but it's 85% trash finds and thrift store bargains.

It might be. More likely a clumsy attempt at nailing something to the ridiculously hard wall or a major ding from getting furniture into this small room. I'm pretty sure that heavy scratch upper left of the monitor is from moving furniture. Both here when I moved in and I haven't bothered to Spackle or paint. I ain't that fancy these days.
Finding awesome hardware on the street 100 paces from one's home is rare. Total cost of this system is now $5 more than it was before, now it's $305. You can still buy this monitor. Refurbished, it will cost you USD $132. That's a good price for what you get. I payed nothing, that's a great score.
@phutur, nice setup and dog!
