Some strange things in BL Lithium ?!

Hi,

i can understand the reason for programmers to change to jgmenu...

But if i try to build me a simple Folder (for example) called "Office" with
Office, ^checkout(Office)
^tag(Office)
Calc, libreoffice --calc
blabla...

Then everything after this Items is sorted in the new "Folder" Office.
Is there a command to end this Folder-Thing ?
I found nothing in the Man-Page.

---

If i use 4 virtual Desktops - and on one Desktop is a Program running that after it finishes work, it opens a Popup-Window and this steals immediately focus - no matter on which Desktop i am working - BL switches to the Desktop with the popupped Window. Can i switch of this focus-stealing ? If yes - how ? wink

---

If i click on the "Preferences / BL / edit autostart "
And edit the List for example with

/usr/lib/vino/vinoserver &
setxkbmap de &

Nothing from this new commands is in use ?!

Thanks for listening to me wink

It might be that you have some error in your autostart. It might be hung before the start of the vinoserver.
If you ad "x-terminal-emulator &" on the last row, you know that autostart is ok, when default terminal starts, and the terminal is good to have autostarted.

When there is problem starting applications from autstart, run the command in terminal (withut the ampersand - &) and se what happens. Do you get any errors in the terminal?

Why are yo runing "setxkbmap de", from autostart? When you installed, did you instal with wrong keyboard-layout?
"setxkbmap", is great in live session, for changing keyboard layout from default. But you should install correct layout.
https://wiki.debian.org/Keyboard, tells you how to do that.

Command "setxkbmap de", changes the keyboard layout to German, when done, program setxkbmap, exits. It does not continue run, when it has doen its jopb.

Re: Some strange things in BL Lithium ?!

Hi,

i read the tutorial - and i have build a simple Menu like this :

@text,,6,6,150,20,2,left,top,auto,#000000 0,Test-Menu
run, gmrun
^sep()
Office,^checkout(office)
^sep()

Test, nothing
^sep()

^tag(office)
Writer, libreoffice --writer
Calc, libreoffice --calc
^sep()

It is ok - on the first sight... It looks like :

Test-Menu
run
---
Office >
---
Test
---
But if i move the Mouse on "Office >"
then this appears :
Writer
Calc
---    thats OK so far
but then there appears some german Menu like
Zubehör >
Entwicklung >
Bildung >
and so on...
Seems to me like a Debain-Menu ?
Nice - But i dont want it wink
Where does it come from ?
---

The Autostart-Problem is solved.
I use the hint from rbh - terminator & is at the last row - and it is executed.
setxkbmap de isnt nessesary - thanks to rbh again
After i checked my Spell - simple i write vinoserver wrong... it must be vino-server wink
Niw its executed well-
So far so good - thanks for your advices !

Re: Some strange things in BL Lithium ?!

In your menu: prepend.csv or *.csv, you have an entry:

^sep()
Applications,^checkout(apps)
^sep()

If you delete or comment that entry, you will disable the Debian menu.
Bu I think that is a bad choice...

Yes. Will make more sense if you read the whole tutorial.

The bunsenlabs setup is quite sophisticated. I’d start from scratch if you want to understand from bottom up. Happy to help if you get stuck.
