Bunsen Labs on my old Laptop

So I installed BL on my Sons laptop. This laptop has a habit of getting very hot and shutting off.  BL has completely transformed the laptop, it's cool running, fast to load.  Magic.

Thanks Team.

That's because we use a cool flame bunsen burner that produces less smoke, since you are not suppose to let the smoke out anyway. cool

Seriously, That's 'really' nice to hear.  Thanks for letting us know.

Re: Bunsen Labs on my old Laptop

What brand/specs for this laptop in case someone else has one and needs a distro that will work.

Re: Bunsen Labs on my old Laptop

If you have the skills, you can open the laptop and repaste the CPU. While you're in there, take a can of compressed air and blow everything out. Most laptops overheat for 2 reasons:

1. CPU Thermal paste is dried out
2. Fans / Filters glogged with gunk

Re: Bunsen Labs on my old Laptop

If anyone is looking to re-paste their CPU I highly recommend using Arctic Silver 5. It works very well.

Place a small amount about the size of a grain of rice in the middle of the CPU. Do not spread it around. Install the heatsink. The process of tightnening down the screws will evenly distribute the paste across the CPU core. Spreading by hand can introduce air pockets.
