If you are new here, then take a moment to look at Basic Help & Support > How can I add new software?.
Basically, yes you can add testing repositories, but be prepared to cope with the likely breakage.
Steve Pusser from MX posts here as well, and may have already done something with Krita, so check out his repo.
Do you particularly NEED the latest version?

Before next version after Lithium is released, it will be anounced for testing in the forum section News & Announcements
It will take some time...
If you want to run Krita 4.3.0, you can install the flatpack package or upgrade your Debian to testing / Bullseye. I have run Bullseye with Lithium ½ year now, without problems. (knock knock...)

If you got 4 GB ram, or more, you can download and run the apimage - https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/

I suppose you dont have som much RAM then. I installed flatpak krita just now on an 32 bit vm BunsenLab with 1 GB RAM. No problem starting krita. But, the installation did not pull in version 4.3.0, but version 4.2.8. On an 64 bit pc, the flatpack install gives version 4.3.0.

You are running stable Debian Buster? It is very seldom you can install packages for testing / Bullsey, on Buster. If it is packages with very few dependencies, it might work. Krita has quite a lot of dependencies: https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/krita

i have 4gb of ram but it locks the system up quicker. i'm running mx linux with krita 4.3.0 and works, i wanted bunsenlabs on here instead due too using less resources and yes the stable branch on bunsenlabs 32bit.

btw if i use 64bit it locks the system up quicker because ive tried it before. for me if you have 8gb or more then running a 64bit os makes more sense.

You could try backporting krita yourself from sources. HowTo here:
