Hello all
I think when I installed Debian 10 on my laptop I must have not ticked some of the boxes or something because I tried to install gdebi earlier and I got the message:
has no installation candidate
Same thing happened when I tried to install synaptic
Can anyone help?
I am wondering if I forgot to choose a mirror for my sources list.
I googled this but I do not know how to add a mirror to the list if that is the issue.
Sorry to be a pain with my newbie questions!

No worries. Post the output of 'sudo apt update', please use the forum "code" tag function. This will show us your sources.
I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Yes, you are missing sources.
Add at least:
## DEBIAN 10 Buster
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ buster main contrib non-free
You edit as root the file: /etc/apt/sources.list
