^ Yep I do agree, I'd add Joanna Newsom to the list as well. I do really like the Fiona Apple album, but not in a 'best thing I've heard in the last 10 years' way. It's always hard to know how these things happen, is it all orchestrated behind the scenes by the record labels or is it just one influential critic that everyone decides they can't disagree with. Or is it really just that good?

Kate Bush - The Dreaming (1982). This is a dry production to the extreme. Peter Gabriel didn't get this dry. This recording is a well-made martini, a drink dying of thirst.

Learning Ardour, and my biggest fail is not understanding how it imports a stereo file. It imports it as 2 mono tracks, but the output is set to 50/50 on each channel by default, so you basically have a mono track output. Panning the channels left and right to get stereo makes a bit of a difference.

i prefer the Grateful Dead usually, but "Bear's gone fishin'" is pretty tight, there are a few songs on the album that are pretty good.

^ You'd probably prefer a couple of the earlier posts on this page. More your thing, I expect (dub reggae, fusion, tabla, etc). Great vocals (her voice at it's best), really great band, a maybe little too much female angst. IMHO.

^ Slight correction;  Isle of View was 1995, so that makes her 44 at that point, but point well taken.  Yes on smokin hot.
Same age as I am. I don't like her as a blond, just breaks my image of her.
