BCM4313 Wi-Fi Adapter Issues while Live Testing ThinkPad X131E 335735U

I've also viewed this and that thread on the forums for aid and to understand my situation as I am a novice to Linux.

I am currently testing my ThinkPad with BunsenLabs Live image and are planning to install. I currently have Linux Mint but broke the distro by adding Ubuntu repositories. Although it did solve my Wi-Fi adapter problem, it broke many other things. I want to solve this issue on the Live Image before I install it. The problem I am having is not that I can't connect to an access point but rather I am not receiving any Internet connection. Unable to view websites or simply use the ping command. Just 100% packet loss. I have tested with many different access points from multiple homes to public computer courtyards.

From what I've search online, the Debian Repositories have two (brcm80211 & bcm43xx) OSS packages and one proprietary package (wl) that support my BCM4313 adapter.

My question is (because I want to be cautious) how do I properly install these packages and configure the kernel to use either these packages rather then the current in use kernel drive and kernel module, being bcma-pci-bridge and bcma, respectively.
