Suggestion to include Zentile in bunsenlabs

Hello,

I would like to suggest taking a look at Zentile, an on-demand tiling solution for Openbox. It could be a great addition to BunsenLabs, as it provides tiling features on Openbox. Would you consider reviewing it for possible inclusion in the distribution?

Thank you for your attention and for all the work you do on BunsenLabs.

Best regards

Re: Suggestion to include Zentile in bunsenlabs

I'd try to do some steps before that
1. I'd test the manual tiling that is part of bunsen openbox config,
2. then i'd test my solution from 2019
https://brontosaurusrex.github.io/2019/ … nd-actions
(or some other native openbox config)
3. If that fails for your specific needs try zentile
4. Why not a real tiler, i hear hyprland is all the talk this days

Only my opinion of course.

Then simply install zentile. FWIW There used to be other options as well.

Another approach worth consider is use of xfce4, which supports both stacking & tiling.

Sorry, but I don’t understand why you’re coming to me with other solutions. I only came here to suggest adding Zentile to BunsenLabs Openbox. I’ve already had Zentile installed for two weeks — I wouldn’t have suggested it here without trying it first. You’re suggesting I install XFCE even though I never asked for that, and another user is just promoting their GitHub page. Honestly, I don’t understand what either of you are trying to do.

Maybe you could have shared that you had already been using zentile in your original post?

All bronto or manyroads have done is offer an alternative. No harm done.

Or maybe people could actually read properly what’s written and stop coming up with solutions to problems they’ve made up in their heads? That way, I wouldn’t have to waste my time explaining things that really don’t need explaining in the first place ? I mean come on guys what the heck is going on here ?

Re: Suggestion to include Zentile in bunsenlabs

BL already includes key binds for manual tiling (as bronto pointed out) and zentile is not in the Debian repos so we will not be including and maintaining it in BL.
