Wifi not connecting..

I have installed Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookwork) distro on my old computer.. Its distrolabs and it works fine but I am unable to connect it to wifi.. I put the correct password  and the wifi logo just cycles..  It asks me to re enter the password and then opens the prompt saying connection failed. Im a newbie, and the whole reason I got this os was to use the internet..

Re: Wifi not connecting..

Hi DCP,

>I have installed Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookwork) distro

Do you mean you have installed Debian OR bunsenlabs based on bookworm - a recent download?
What is the recent computer, make, model and any other details?

Did this PC connect to your WiFi you are trying to connect it to BEFORE you tried this installation?
Does it connect to a friend's WiFi?

Reason - some WiFi can just refuse to connect to some WiFi points, I have had this many times over the years.

WiFi chips do get hot and eventually they wander off frequency - I have seen this before.

I live on a boat and I have a solar sensor that spoke to my Huewai B535 but refused to speak to my Dlink 578 piece of rubbish on 2.5GHz but is now fine on my new GL.iNet GL-X3000 :-)

Worst case scenario is to swap out the WiFi card for $10 from ebay I suspect. It really is possible to waste an awful time on these issues. But just spend some time isolating the problem.

The other other aspect could be to perhaps reinstall with ethernet cable - so the distro might be able to grab supporting drivers before trying the WiFi once installed.

I am just about to install Boron having not used #! for probably 8+ years. I have chosen this over the #!++ because I took one look at the support on their Redit and decided it didn't look newbie friendly.

Cheers Mark
