Hey friends, one thing I’ve enjoyed using in Arch is a systemd based initramfs (vs busybox). In Arch, there’s a pretty straightforward way of dealing with initramfs compilation.
What I’d like to do it migrate from the busybox initramfs to a systemd one with Debian. Has anyone done this?
Basically, some of the hooks need to change, and the bootloader will need to have a slightly different kernel commandline. I think the latter is something in my wheelhouse so no biggie (though I am using systemd-boot instead of grub). But for the former, I’m not really sure how to go about setting this up. Has anyone done this?
Alternatively, I’ve heard of people using dracut but I haven’t given it a shot yet. Any thoughts there?
Other things worth mentioning: I use LVM on Luks for my rootfs (/boot and /boot/efi are unencrypted).
Thanks!
