[OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

This would be my first post, my apologies if I had to first post elsewhere, my question and some points:

- I did search and I was not able unable to find an answer for my problem
- My problem is that I tried to update:

sudo apt update

But I got this:

I saw in a different post that this could help know what I have wrong:

I have tried connecting with and without a vpn and I can't connect to pkg.bunsenlabs.org

inxi -r

And I got:

As can no one else at the moment. The site pkg.bunsenlabs.org is unfortunately offline. If you ping pkg.bunsenlabs.org, there is no answer.

I move this post to forum: "Bug Reports", and change subject to "pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline"

Edit:
You can still upgrade from repositorys that are online. Just issue command

$ sudo apt upgrade

Now, I can browse https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian/dists/beryllium/.
(There is still no answer on ping, but that might been disabled).

But there seems to be some intermediate problem.
Now i got an error again:
" This site can’t be reached
pkg.bunsenlabs.org took too long to respond."

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

I don't find any problems with the BL repositories now. Both apt updates and browsing work OK.

Does this issue remain for anybody?
If not, I guess it must have been some temporary problem with the server hardware.

I was able to get updates from that repo so looks like it's sorted itself out :-)

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

Yesterday when I tried to update the repo(s) were down. They came back online within half an hour. Probably an outage or maintenance from our web host.

Hmm... if this continues, I suppose it might mean having to get in touch with our cloud provider.

...unless it's network connectivity issues?

At home. browser hung when trying to read new post.

Ping to bunsenlabs.org:
"40 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 39920ms".
Speedtest-cli, gave around 8 Mbit/s.

Edit:
Ah forgot that ping was rejected.

Right, our whole domain was out for at least half an hour just now. Hopefully it'll settle down, thanks for bearing with us!

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

@hhh Howdy Old Friend!

Are we still experiencing issues with the http://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian link from the main page? I am still getting a nginx 404 error when I am attempting to add it as a repo for a experiment I am working on.

Thanks and have a great day!

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

@topdollar I just checked, and for me  https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian is accessible.
Could you try again?

We did have some intermittent connectivity issues in the past - let's hope they don't become a regular issue. sad

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

@johnraff Hello from CA!

Just tried again on https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian

Getting a 404 nginx error from the test vm, got the same error from clicking on your link above. Tried different browsers with the same result.
Tried hotspot with the same result.
Tried with completely different carriers, same result.
Tried with Windows clients, and VPN, same result.

I am perplexed.

My goal was to setup BL on a MX system for various reasons so I could further testing on a client specific issue, any thoughts would be welcomed. Is there a way to add the BL repos without using the pkg.bunsenlabs.org url?

Thank you for your time on this, I know you are busy as well. :-)

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

Trying to access https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian with a browser does not work - the server does not accept such connections. You have to add it to an apt sources list file and let apt access it with commands like 'sudo apt update'.

Re: [OK] pkg.bunsenlabs.org is offline

What I was actually trying to do was add the repo through Synaptic on MX so I could have a MX base on the VM. I could add the repo but it would error out when I tried to access the repo. I am not sure what else to try.

Thanks for your help JR!

If you have inxi installed (or install it), cli command "inxi -r | grep bunsen", should return:

$ inxi -r | grep bunsen
  Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/bunsen.list
    1: deb https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian boron main
    2: deb https://pkg.bunsenlabs.org/debian bookworm-backports main

Check and compare. Edit config file if your source is different.
Download bunsen-archive-keyring:

and install it. Does wget time out or du you get the deb?

I have not had any problems with the server last 2-3 weeks.
