Put X2Go in the "Remote Desktop" menu?

X2Go has come up several times already in these forums:
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic … 07#p121907

It looks as if the regular VNC software we currently offer to install in the "Remote Desktop" menu might be getting old, and X2Go is what we should be offering?

TigerVNC might be an alternative.

I have never used remote desktops to date - does anybody with experience have something to say about this?

Re: Put X2Go in the "Remote Desktop" menu?

I have used x2go and based on my experience, it is very easy to use.  One big drawback is that it does not work for modern Gnome (>=3) implementations (lack of development resources) but I guess that is not an issue for most BL users.  I have no experience with VNC but my understanding is that setup is somewhat involved and must be done individually for each client.

Server vnc: x11vnc most configurable, manageable, versatile and reliable.
Server rdp: xrdp
Clients vnc, rdp: Remmina by far the best and easiest, but also gnome-boxes

x11vnc be set up with SSH tunnels and/or secure shell startup.

I run BL in gnome-boxes and I can graphically remote anything to it or from it.

These are the simplest most versatile apps for graphical remote displays.

^Thanks!
So we have to add x11vnc and remmina to the choice.
Both are available as Debian packages.

I also believe Remmina can also access Windows desktops/servers too.
