I think Mirage comes more complete and with more options... it would be a good change in my opinion.

Mirage is recognized by the BL alternatives script, so users who install mirage and uninstall ristretto will automatically get bl-image-viewer set to mirage and scripts and file associations will continue to work as before.
The discussion of which default image viewer, terminal emulator, text editor etc. to ship with the distribution has continued for years in some cases. Often we end up choosing the app with the fewest features and options - just enough to do the job - and leave it to users who want more to install their favourite.
( There are exceptions, like VLC which has all the options, because it's the traditional choice since the days of CrunchBang, and most people seem OK with it. )

Yes, I know... it was just a suggestion to make it default. Thanks for everything.

In fact, at one time Mirage was the default BL image viewer, because of the extra features. Some years ago a serious bug appeared, so we dropped it. That bug may now have gone, but anyway we chose Ristretto as a simple but reliable alternative.
