Hey, so last time I was here was back in 2015/2016. I had tried Ubuntu, Fedora, ElementaryOS, Arch and other flavours and BunsenLabs was my longest flavour I enjoyed, with ElementaryOS behind it.
After a couple of months using BunsenLabs I spotted another distro and I was intrigued. I played around with it and started to read up on it more and then I was hooked. This was Solus. I've been a massive fan of it and also for the Budgie window manager. It was very well polished and has a very classy look but with the customisability you'd expect with Linux. Recently though I've been wanting my distro to have a bit more ease. After playing around with the latest version of BunsenLabs I've noticed how much it's improved (or seems it to me), but also most software makers will supply a .deb file which is much more helpful and up to date (although the team on Solus are very good at keeping up to date, the 3rd party software solution is a little frustrating when the rest of the system is rolling release). The other aspect is that the OS isn't as active as it once was. Maybe that's me expecting too much?
The other reason is I'm going to push for a gaming system leaning more towards Linux now that the SteamOS (Arch based) is gaining more ... _steam_.
Anyway, I wanted to say hi and look forward to getting BL installed fully and my environment set up with screenshots being shared once ready!
I really have missed the simplicity ?

Welcome back!
I use Arch BTW! If it is not rolling, it is stagnant!

Hi Nigel, welcome and yes, the simplicity of BunsenLabs is the thrill of it all.

I know this is a fairly old thread but I just want to say hi and welcome back. I know how you feel about Bunsenlabs. Even though I may stray. I genuinely believe my home is with (originally Crunchbang but now...) BunsenLabs. Other distros are interesting, we have to explore them, but few, if any, are as well implemented and intuitive as Bunsenlabs. I couldnt believe it when crunchbang ended but Bunsenlabs are very true to its ethos. The developers are the top of the tree as far as I'm concerned. Same here. I also believe a massive thing has happened to Bunsenlabs. It is so improved over the last few years.
I tried everything in the last few years from OpenIndiana to void, mabox (hahahaha thats some OS hahahahahaha),even went back to Linux Mint, and yet that intuitive simplicity that delivers very complex results is what brings me back. Here is what Bunsenlabs have taught me 1) theres more than one way to skin a cat. 2)The best way to learn is to teach yourself. 3) some developers love minimalism too, 4) you can have fun on a forum and learn at the same time

I’ve got this horrible feeling that if there is such a thing as reincarnation, knowing my luck, I’ll come back as me!
