A noob quide in text or on youtube that shows a minimal install?

Hi there... I have been using busenlabs on a old desktop I found under the stairs at my uncles. I found out about it by googling for an OS I can run on a old system. It is working really well, but I would like to have a much cleaner install.

Basically I would like to do an install that has no 3rd party apps installed. Apart from anything needed to run the fantastic desktop the normal version comes with. So no office, no browser (I want to run my own choice) and all that kind of stuff. The OS as is comes with a lot of apps I have no idea what they are or what they do, and would just prefer to make al these choices myself as I need them.. without effecting the functionality of the OS itself.

Do you guys provide a minimal / core version of busenlabs that dose not come with a ton of apps?

Thanks!

1. The hard way
Maybe:

(I don't think its a noob guide)
2. The easy way
Uninstall stuff that is not needed
3. The hardest way
Start with Debian base (no DE) and add stuff you need, like openbox for example.

Debian Third party applications is usually referring to applications like Google Chrome, Slack, Zoom, Visual Studio Code etc, that is not available in Debian repositorys.
If you have installed Bunsenlab from official iso, you have only a few third-party packages, that is the Bunsen-packages.

The OS as is comes with a lot of apps I have no idea what they are or what they do, and would just prefer to make al these choices myself as I need them..

Most distributions ships basic applications, so the system is usable after installation.

If you want to try to slim down your system, you can filter installed applications in synaptic and read about them. Synaptics lists also all libraries, which can feel overwhelming for a new user. Application gnome-software (Software Center for GNOME), lists only applications.  gnome-software feels a little bloated...

naaa can't be that bad ... did a "simulated" install:

 12 Dec 22 @ 15:02:07 ~
   $ sget gnome-software
NOTE: This is only a simulation!
apt needs root privileges for real execution.
Keep also in mind that locking is deactivated,
so don't depend on the relevance to the real current situation!
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
The following additional packages will be installed:
  appstream apt-config-icons gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0 gnome-software-common libappstream-glib8 libappstream4 libcairo-gobject-perl
  libcairo-perl libextutils-depends-perl libextutils-pkgconfig-perl libfwupd2 libglib-object-introspection-perl libglib-perl libgtk3-perl
  libjcat1 libmalcontent-0-0 libpackagekit-glib2-18 libstemmer0d libxmlb1 packagekit pkg-config python3-pycurl
  python3-software-properties software-properties-common software-properties-gtk
Suggested packages:
  apt-config-icons-hidpi gnome-software-plugin-flatpak gnome-software-plugin-snap libfont-freetype-perl libxml-libxml-perl
  libcurl4-gnutls-dev python-pycurl-doc python3-pycurl-dbg
Recommended packages:
  fwupd packagekit-tools unattended-upgrades
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  appstream apt-config-icons gir1.2-packagekitglib-1.0 gnome-software gnome-software-common libappstream-glib8 libappstream4
  libcairo-gobject-perl libcairo-perl libextutils-depends-perl libextutils-pkgconfig-perl libfwupd2 libglib-object-introspection-perl

  python3-software-properties software-properties-common software-properties-gtk

I was wrong, it IS bloat.
