The forum software

I don't know if this post should be here or elsewhere...

I had thought to await discuss the forum until after beryllium release..
But, the post from Schwim forced me to reflect:

Have you before discussed migrate from Flux BB? There will not be any updates to the software, so sooner or later I think it must be done.

I don't know how much work it is. By migration?

Re: The forum software

There was an incomplete attempt to port the data to Discourse. The problem is not using a new forum software, the problem is porting all the data over. Flarum is not finished and has _no_ first-class FluxBB import function, Discourse has an "upstream" script but Discord itself is a hellish Ruby on Rails nightmare. In any case, Flarum and Discourse seem like the only alternatives that have feature parity

In any case, we'll likely lose all private messages since porting those over is the most difficult/privacy sensitive part and because it's a custom FluxBB patch, it has no support in the import tools.

Yes. Else it would be easy.

Flarum is not finished

But is not v. 1.0 stable functional https://discuss.flarum.org/d/27394-flarum-100-released? The say so: https://docs.flarum.org/faq:

Is Flarum Stable?
Yes! After 6 years of development, Flarum 1.0.0 was finally released in 2021

and has _no_ first-class FluxBB import function,

No, Flarum has not yet done any migrate tools. But as they say in their FAQ, there is communitytools. One example is fluxbb_to_flarum; https://github.com/mondediefr/fluxbb_to_flarum. No idea how well it works.

And there is the possibility to by the migration. We could ask for a price...
