Wallpaper - if we choose this first, the rest should follow...
The sunrise @hhh started off with was very pretty, but using a photo was considered undesirable.
The red/black abstract was nice, I thought, but not all agreed.Maybe the safest route is something subdued, grey or blackish?
We already have grey.png in bunsen-images. Its soft and warm:
https://i.imgur.com/qXukILRm.jpgAnd @hhh recently made this blackish background:
https://i.imgur.com/DUwd5wvm.jpgI kindof like the black one, though I don't know if that logo lends itself into being made into a conky.
The grey might be safer? I'd be OK with either of them.(Grey.png was the BL Hydrogen background, but with a more modern theme and Papirus icons Beryllium would look pretty different I think.)
Any opinions? Especially, @sleekmason?
2nd one is good for me too maybe have a plain one for those who want to use the BL logo conky with it. This will make a great starter wallpaper OOTB and others can be in the bl-wallpapers package for those who want more of the BL wallpapers. The original Hydrogen one is still useful too IMO.

I also like the second one! Very comfortable to look at, and the logo is large enough to see in screenshots proper without overpowering the wall. Nice work:) Plus the pattern removes the line artifacts in a transparent terminal. The conky bit is cool as hell, but really should just be a neat option provided, rather than the main, due to some folks never using Conky. I'd make a nifty button for it somewhere.
Anyhow, If this winds up being the wallpaper choice, than I can suggest a few items to look through, and upon a selection, can make a couple of further options, onward and onward until we get as close to what people would like to see as possible.
Based on the second wallpaper, here are a few samples that can be changed in any direction desired. Literally telling me "darker" "lighter" "More tint" etc. is what I need to get the concept.
I don't mind changes at all, or criticism. Please do. If none of these serve at all as a base, point me in another direction. No problem. We want this right. Right?
And of course if there is some other theme that works better, Great!

Yes, a reference to the dark elves in Dungeons and Dragons. Nice name for a very dark theme.

Weren't the early 80's fun?:) I always loved the concept of the Drow elves. Plus I had the groovy books back then with the cool pics of all the monsters.

Nice choice. Personally I think the Earth themes are super cool. Lets try the Dark Earth theme adjusted and see what we've got. Everything has been adjusted for gtk-3.0, gtk-2.0, JWM's weird scheming options, Openbox, and Geany.
In order to try the theme, probably the easiest way is to download the whole themes folder from https://github.com/sleekmason/Themes This can be done either by cloning the repo, or easier for those without git knowledge to just grab the zip file. Do this by going to the site and clicking on the "CODE" button, and then "Download ZIP"
No need to sandbox the file. It is self contained. (don't you hate it when you open a hundred files somewhere? me too.)
Anyway, the themes for Bunsen Labs are in NEW-BUNSEN-TEST. Just delete anything not wanted when done.
you can place both Dark-Earth and Dark-Earthbox into ~.themes <-- Make the folder if it doesn't exist. You should them be able to select Dark-Earth from the settings/Openbox manager.
For the Geany theme, Place in ~/.config/geany/colorschemes and change within Geany itself by going to "view" --> Change Color Scheme.
This theme is now complete, but that doesn't mean finished. Look for anything bothersome. Look for other issues. Open Random weird programs and make sure everything is covered by the proper code.
And, as usual, If this sucks and doesn't cut it, surely we can find something that will, Mine or not.

^ I just added the original Earth theme to the same github folder for comparison.
Things to consider if Dark-Earth (or whatever you want to call it), is chosen as a base.
Too dark/light - worth comparing to the other Earth theme to see what is comfortable over time, and adjust if necessary.
Text brightness, everywhere. Be specific if something is a bother.
scrollbar width and other characteristics.
frame lines in Thunar and others. (brighter/dimmer, etc.).
contrast for selection in Mousepad and Geany.
Openbox cohesiveness with the rest of the theme.
Geany vivid colors for code. (A blue and a green are predominant for most items).
Anything else you can think of that you think we should change. No guarantees I can do it;) but I'll give it a go.
*Edit Be aware that we can also do this same general scheme using the Drow base, and have a little color as well if you wish. It is a conundrum because it is pretty darn cool that Dark Earth has no color at all except for warnings and the like, but you can get the same basic look with the Drow base as well, and it also has very minor coloring of the text (169-180 hue), and a few other items are colored as well like the button switches. This does make it easier to blend with other programs that do have some color depending on individual or program preferences. For instance, your conky text and panel items. Anyway . . . Options.
*Edit2 Just looked at BL and it didn't look like the panel will be any issue at all with the Dark Earth theme should you choose to use it, and conkys are easily adjusted. Personally, I like the Dark Earth theme if you can pull it off with the rest just because of the niche aspect. Anyhow, I leave it with you guys, and will adjust as needed.
Once we get down to the nitty gritty, I will spend some time fine tuning anything I see directly as well.

Two more dark themes to try out. I wanted to get a richer black and add some color without overwhelming the theme. Dragon, based off of Drow, so color is added enough to get a better blend, and everything is toned down quite a bit. The other is Dark-Drow Which is similar but with no extra help on the black, and a different accent color.
These are currently in my github under NEW-BUNSEN-TEST if you want to check them out. https://imgur.com/Y8sfNkas.png

^ No doubt! I don't think BL uses icons in their menu, Finding a full usable set in monotone is a good way to go though. Would certainly look better. If you have any link suggestions, would love to take a look.

The multi-colored icons in the menu clash with the theme, imho.
^That sums it up to the point!
Then, better leave out, as before...
Actually, I was of the opinion that you would (finally) consider the wallpaper suggestions made long ago by @ututo or @brontosaurusrex to give BL a young, fresh look. However, it must be gloomy and dark again.

^ Not for nothing, but I agree with you guys about a brighter concept.. Unfortunately on my end, I am not going to be able to provide any more new themes than the three dark themes I've made over the past several days, so hopefully one of them will work for your needs.
For now, I will gladly adjust any of the new themes I just made that are in the TEST area, or any of my original themes if you want to check them out.
So let me know if you decide to use any of my themes and need some changes made. Will be happy to do so.
Thank you for the opportunity of service! I can only hope you will be able to find something you like somewhere that will work for Bunsen Labs and get Bullseye released. Rooting for ya!
