MSMTP randomly fails

I set up a script to send me a weather email every hour. My email password is stored in a gpg file according to the instructions here.

Occasionally it will work, occasionally it won't and I get a local system email saying:

gpg: decryption failed: No secret key
msmtp: cannot read output of 'gpg --no-tty --quiet --decrypt ~/.msmtp-gmail.gpp'

Why does it fail to read the password sometimes but not others?
