Earlier I did a post in the Tutorials and Tips forum about how I went about customizing a BunsenLabs ISO to use a tweaked theme in Live mode.
Instead of retyping it all, here is the link to the post:
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=7658
Can anyone tell me if this is the correct way to customize an ISO? If it's not or if there is a better way, please let me know.

It's a very complicated subject, and there are many ways of tweaking/customizing an iso.
The most "correct" way to make a custom iso is to build it yourself using eg live-build, but there are many others in between.
If you web search variations on 'custom debian iso' you'll find a lot of reading material, though there's plenty of obsolete info out there too. Here are a few links from the Debian Wiki:

@johnraff thank you for the reading material. I wasn't aware there were that many ways of going about this. Can you see any flaws in the way I customized mine? This is the first time doing this since I was a #! user in 2014-2015 IIRC.

Another one which - along with the first one above - looks close to what you did:
https://wiki.debian.org/ManipulatingISOs
Read those two and you'll probably know more about it than I do.

Thanks again johnraff!

Just to add, documentation on live-build and it's forks is quite scarce. It took tons of reading through old Debian mailing lists and hours of trial and error with the live-build manual before I could even build our first presentable alpha build, and I needed John's help with the pre-seed file. That was 6 years ago, so things are slightly better now. Kali Linux has added a lot of documentation.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

Another Debian Wiki page on repacking Debian isos.
This is not trivial ...
