Re: Beryllium countdown

Also, agreed that we'll always have tint2 as the default panel. It's #!, after all.

But... how about if we also shipped config files for xfce4-panel so that if a user installed it they'd get a nice BL panel out of the box?

You have time to do this? I can do the config if one of my earlier ones isn't sufficient.

Yeh probably - don't think it would take too long. I guess we'd need to have the Be theming somewhat settled first?

But anyway, if you write that xfce4-panel tutorial you mentioned - click here, do this, set that - then I can follow your instructions and pick out the resulting configs. They'll likely be in those xfce xml files somewhere...

Re: Beryllium countdown

Sounds good. Be (beryllium, thank you damo) light and dark themes should be good (please test), but I'm about to add a small rainbow of BL themes, dark and light, just changing the highlight color. Red, purple, green, blue, yellow, chartruese, periwinkle, mauve, kiwi... just the usual. Let's talk after that.

Re: Beryllium countdown

BTW, did we pick a wallpaper? Maybe that #! grey thing I did? I can't find it at the moment. I know we agreed that the spin on the official artwork was cool, but not what we wanted for this release.

Re: Beryllium countdown

My vote, a wall by bronto. Add an inverted version, it works perfectly...

This is on Cinnamon and the icons aren't the issue yet. Still... tight, right?

Re: Beryllium countdown

How about adding a step to bl-welcome that offers installing open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-desktop? It's necessary in order to allow 3D acceleration when installed under VMWare Workstation (Player). It installs and activates systemd service that autostarts at boot, and needs otherwise no extra configuration.

Re: Beryllium countdown

Thoughts from the art crew on my wallpaper proposal? We can GIMP that little mid-upper-right star glitch out, no problem.

NM, got it. Remove Flatpak and install the Git, now that Debian is stable again.

Let's just go with those 2 themes because I'm going to have to wipe my hard drive. I don't know what happened, but FUUUUUUCK!!!!

Re: Beryllium countdown

I really like this one, but the contrasts are going to mess up the default conky I think.

PS I think we have moved beyond the original #! plain grey background

Re: Beryllium countdown

Maybe it wasn't my wall, maybe it was Campfire, by sleekmason, and I just desaturated it. Anyway, a huge slap-in-the-face to bronto unless he approves...

Re: Beryllium countdown

^ Wallpaper gradient banding. Let's not do that again.

@Boštjan (dude, I've totally forgotten your name, please remind me), I can't find your Russian doll wallpaper, please hook me up.

NM, it was only 7 pages back in your post history. Babuška penguins, 4k...

This is for the host or the guest?
Just install the two packages open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-desktop? Or should the page also do some configuration - eg does that systemd service need to be set up?

If it's just installing a couple of packages in order to support VMware, does it really need a bl-welcome page? Maybe a VMware tutorial would be the way to go?

If it needs config too, then sure, let bl-welcome do it.

@johnraff, don't forget: "Package hw-probe, would be nice to have installed as standard. Also included in CD/DVD."
