Installing GRUB on an hybrid BIOS/UEFI stick

The purpose of this article is to explain how to install GRUB on an USB stick, or any other kind of USB mass-storage device, to make it bootable in either legacy BIOS or UEFI mode and allow to load live images installed in a directory.

(Note - if javascript is on, settings in the top box will be reflected in the code below.)

I wavered as to whether it merited its own thread, but it looks like an interesting project and the topic might be wide enough to leave room for others to post their own ideas and discoveries.
