No worries, John. Nice work. I'm fine with using Adwaita OOTB, prettier icons are an apt install away. I'm sure anone using a 32 bit non-PAE machine with no USB port and only a CD drive will be thrilled to have anything that they can install and have a functional desktop OOTB.

hhh, another idea to run by you - drop Firefox from the CD iso, and replace with Dillo? Not only would it save a big chunk of filespace that could be replaced with eg the missing locales stuff, but dillo is just vastly, incredibly, faster on old machines. On my 32bit Celeron 1GB laptop it comes up in a flash!
No javascript of course, and I want to look into using it with the BL forum: https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=6652
Would be cool to set the forum as the home page.
But even if just the online support links worked OK in Dillo, then users wanting more can install Firefox.
...a 32 bit non-PAE machine with no USB port and only a CD drive...
We're no longer shipping a fullsized 32bit iso for users with USB boot. It was intended to save a bit of maintainance by having only two varieties on offer, but actual building of a full-sized 32bit iso is basically editing one line of the 64bit config, so we could go back to three versions?

+1 to Dillo then! We can add an explanation to the CD-ISO Release Notes regarding omitted packages, but this should be pretty self-explanatory, fixed by installing the Meta package and easily [RESOLVED] with the first dozen Help posts we get for it.

I've also taken the liberty of adding a "Web Browsers" section to menu>system>install selected packages that offers Firefox-esd, Chromium and Dillo, to the next upgrade of bunsen-pipemenus (not out yet).
It took only a tiny bit of code, and might bypass some of those HELP requests.
(Apart from grungy appearance, no javascript, and a multitude of other inconveniences, Dillo really is amazing on old hardware. Also an excellent docs browser - opens gz files automatically.)
---
And hoping to get nearer to a RC CD iso today. (Need to tweak icons a bit somewhere to get a bunsen flame on tint2's menu button even when using Adwaita.)
Once that's out, a fresh build of the 64bit RC with the same configs (but pulling in the new package versions) ought to be all we need to go Official Release.
Oh yes... release notes?

So I just started listing new features in the 64 bit version, I'm trying to list major ones first. So far...
Tracks current Debian stable (buster)
Has separate sessions for BunsenLabs Openbox and default Debian Openbox
The BL session uses jgmenu by default
New bl-exit script
New dark default theme by default, featuring custom-colored Papirus icons
Much smoother loading of desktop
Includes lightdm-greeter-settings (login screen gui)
lxterminal instead of terminator
Bluetooth support available via bl-welcome
Other bl-welcome tweaks
Our python2 scripts have been migrated to python3
"Delayed first boot after install bug" no longer present
What am I missing?
Blob Theme Manager saves more configs
Improvements to tint2 and conky managers, and vertical tint2 configs available OOTB
Removed bl-images-extra and some tint2 and conky config redundancy (all still available via our git)

@damo, almost all the improvements I've listed could use more explanation, I probably will put together a basic Release Notes and then an in-depth one. "Improvements" works for the simple notes, could you summarize the more detailed improvements?
-edit- Blob, tint2 and conky improvements added to the short-list.

hhh, you referred back to my rough list when drawing that up?
Looks good, anyway, but if I can add a bit here:
---
I think modularity needs bringing out more, and tweakability maybe too. It's the underlying reason for a lot of what users sometimes see as "unnecessary complication", and something they could be made more aware of.
So, perhaps point 2 could be:
More modularity and flexibility, eg the Bunsenlabs session can coexist with a default Openbox or XFCE session.
(I just now installed xfce4 and confirmed that both the BL and XFCE sessions work OK - except that the user would have to enable their "Desktop" directory in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs. That wouldn't hurt BL.)
Add (I think this is important):
Openbox can be replaced with another window manager, while keeping BL's autostarted apps, menu and keybinds.
And:
Other users on the system are not obliged to import the BL config files.
(Although this might be one for the "details" list?
---
3) "The BL session uses jgmenu by default, with many new features." ?
---
6) Was desktop loading so rough in Helium? I never noticed it. ??
---
7)
Added some GUI config tools, eg lightdm-greeter-settings
?? There are some others? If not, I don't see lightdm-greeter-settings alone as such a major feature. But no objection to leaving it in the list.
---
8 ) This too, looks a bit minor to me. If others disagree, sure leave it in, or, replace with
Some default applications have been changed.
??
---
9) & 10) Combine as one item? And "tweaks" > "improvements"? (I think doing all the apt operations together at the end of bl-welcome is a major improvement.)
---
11) Add "Most of" to cover corner cases. But I'm not sure how important python2/3 is to users anyway?
---
12) Refers to the addition of haveged to fix the entropy issue I guess? Did that issue exist on Debian 9? If not, fixing it in Deb 10 is hardly a major improvement for users.
---
Improvements to BLOB themes manager, and conky and tint2 managers.
Agreed. Maybe after item 5) or so?
---
This is important, I think. Add:
Installer now supports Secure Boot.
---
And, add final item:
And many other small tweaks, improvements and bug-fixes. Please see the detailed release notes.
With a link to the detailed list.
---

If it's OK with you guys, should I write the detailed release notes? Most of the stuff in there I typed into the codebase so I'm fairly familiar with it.

1) "Blob Theme Manager has seen many improvements."
(hhh, if you knew how long I spent on that...)
3) Would users see this as a cool improvement? Maybe something for the detailed list?

^Yes!
I think (despite the cries of "bloat") this is a step in the right direction, and with any luck we might be able to coast into Beryllium with rather less effort...

I think this latest CD iso is looking pretty good.
Now down to 678MB so in fact there's space to put some stuff in!
Taken out this time: Firefox-esr and all the Paper icon theme, so defaulting to Dillo and Adwaita. It really doesn't look too bad. Also, put back the locale files, so no weird error messages, and mousepad so new users get a more comfortable text editor than nano in a terminal. The man pages are still missing though.
On a VM with 1GB of RAM the installed system booted to 165MB. After installing Paper icons, up to 175, but still OK IMO.
Dillo is a great replacement for Firefox when looking up help topics in the BL forum or Arch wiki.
So, we could put the man pages back in, or alternatively add some handy CLI utilities for troubleshooting old machines (especially network tools, to avoid Catch 22).
If we decide to make the tint2 changes it'll need one more upgrade of bunsen-configs and one more build, then we'll be ready to go official IMO.

After doing the tint2 stuff, I'll try restoring the man pages, build, and we can see if there's still room to stuff something else in.

I think this one might be OK.
Size 682MB, man pages included but package docs omitted. (BL helpfiles included.)
Everything seems to be working nicely.
bl-welcome lets you install bunsen-meta-lite.
