I posted something about adding packages to bunsen-meta-printer-support on the TODOLIST thread:
see: https://packages.debian.org/buster/task-print-server
add some packages to bunsen-meta-printer-support dependencies?
Right now we're depending on:
cups printer-driver-all system-config-printer hplip
But task-print-server has several more:
cups-bsd foomatic-db-engine hp-ppd openprinting-ppds
Is it worth adding those to bunsen-meta-printer-support dependencies?
...but today when I was going through my unread mail, found this thread:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-printin … 00073.html
It looks as if modern printers don't really need drivers at all (I know nothing about this stuff) and the Debian devs are moving towards installing less printer stuff by default, not more.
On that basis, we can probably leave our meta-package as it is - or possibly even consider dropping printer-driver-all and hplip in the future.
But, there was something about cups-browsed working better with a certain config:
https://lists.debian.org/debian-printin … 00105.html
ie uncommenting
CreateIPPPrinterQueues All
in /etc/cups/cups-browsed.conf. They seem to have done that in Sid, or maybe even Bullseye, but there's nothing stopping us adding that (as a dpkg-divert) as a config in Lithium - it is supported by the Cups in Buster.
No problem to add that config tweak to bunsen-configs?
(Just going by that Debian thread.)

I'm tempted to throw that config tweak in and hope for the best. The Debian devs seemed to think it was a good idea... O:)

Now bunsen-meta-printer-support 10.1.2-1 applies the tweak to /etc/cups/cups-browsed.conf using a dpkg diversion.
Fingers crossed.
