Re: No sound... [Solved]

I don't know anything about codelite, or if it is safe to use, but shouldn't you be using `jessie` libs, not `wheezy`?

Re: No sound... [Solved]

@damon:
that repo is for wxWidgets, there is no jessie version yet.

@Head_on_a_Stick:
Now that you mention it, no kernel version 4

uname -a
Linux localhost 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u6 (2015-11-09) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Re: No sound... [Solved]

Maybe obvious, but if you currently have pulseaudio and pavucontrol installed, open pavucontrol, go to the Output tab and try all options, especially the Mute button. Also in alsamixer (m to unmute and arrows to navigate and raise levels).

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

So you're not using the backported kernel version.

Did you try it at all?

Good question! big_smile Since the grub from the Fedora installation (dual boot) is handling the boot, I missed out to update the grub config file. So grub config file updated (use the backported kernel version) and now sound is working!!!

Thanks a lot guys!!

P.S: I am pretty sure the same solution would have solved the same problem with the debian installation I tried before.

Just a final question before I close this topic: why the backported kernel version is not the default during installation? That would avoid many headaches to lot of people.

Because BL is based on Debian Stable, and an upgraded kernel could cause problems for others instead. So backports are a user choice wink

Glad you got it working though. If you could edit the title of your first post and add [SOLVED] it moght help others looking for answers.
