Certificates and Browsers

I wanted to go to this forum, but the Firefox browser did not let me in. I wanted to install a different browser, but that didn't work either.

I am writing here from another operating system.

You tried http://? it should be https://.. You should been redirected to https.

You have started a thread about problems installing meta-bunsen-packages. I have asked if it is solved. Aparently it is not. You have probabley not installed latest certificates. You can examine it with the terminal command:

$ dpkg -l | grep ca-certificates

I wanted to install a different browser, but that didn't work either.

You must give more information. What is the result of command:

$ sudo apt install chromium

Do not post screendumps. Enable virtualbox bideractional shared clipboard, so you can copy the text from the guest terminal.
What is your /etc/apt/sources.list? Do you have any conf-files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/?

Do you get any error after teminal command:

$ sudo su apt update
$ sudo su apt upgrade

Is there any error in apt-log (/var/log/apt/history.log and /var/log/apt/term.log)

This is the way to go because the ca-certificates package OR firefox might be out of date. It's always important to fetch the latest packages first as the SSL ecosystem is moving faster nowadays with new root certs appearing and disappearing more often.

This is done in this way. But I can’t copy text between operating systems.

Virtualbox guest additions is needed for virtualbox bideractional shared clipboard to work.

So, install kernel headers, reinstall guest additions for it to work.

Re: Certificates and Browsers

And the result of

$ dpkg -l | grep ca-certificates

By the way: The default prompt for regular user is "$". The default prompt for rot user is "#".
Command "# apt install package", is supposed to be issued by root.
Command "$ sudo apt install package", is supposed to be issued by regular user.

There is no need to as root give "sudo command". That is the same as "As root, do command command as root". It is better to avoid tautology.

Sorry, I don’t understand English well and don’t understand everything that you write. Please tell me how to unlock the folder, which was marked with a red arrow in the screenshot, so that you can enter without admin privileges.

Re: Certificates and Browsers

I have not yet started installing a second browser so that the operating system takes up less space.
