[SOLVED] bunsenlabs components overview

Hello,

Currently my hardware is only supported by kernel 4.19, so I'm using Buster for the moment.

I was wondering where I can get an overview of the different components used in BL (like panel, file manager, monitor, terminal, power manager, ... ) so I can install them on my debian system to resemble BL. For example, which file manager is used in BL, ...

thx

Re: [SOLVED] bunsenlabs components overview

Hi chrisdb,
all our packages' code is here: https://github.com/BunsenLabs
And the current install list is in the metapackage:
https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-me … an/control
and in the netinstall script:
https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-ne … kgs-norecs
https://github.com/BunsenLabs/bunsen-ne … /pkgs-recs
All the above are for the upcoming Lithium release and might see some changes yet. You can find the current lists in the equivalent "helium" branches.

Short list of essential components for those interested...

Login manager and lock screen: lightdm, lightdm-gtk-greeter, light-locker

Window manager: openbox

Panel: tint2

Compositor: compton

Power management and backlight settings: xfce4-power-manager

Notifications: xfce4-notifyd

Screen resolution: arandr

Wallpaper: nitrogen (feh as a backup)

Desktop system info: conky

System tray icons: nm-applet, pnmixer, clipit (and xfce4-power-manager)

Sound: pulseaudio and pavucontrol

After that, we use thunar for file management and firefox for a browser. Common terminals include terminator, lxterminal and rxvt-unicode. Common text editors include geany and mousepad. Common media players include vlc, mpv and audacious. Common image viewers include mirage and gpicview.

helium uses the Openbox root (right-click) menu but lithium will use jgmenu by default.

xset and synclient handle keyboard and touchpad inputs, xbindkeys will be more prominent in lithium.

Sorry if I've forgotten anything!
