Ubuntu and xfce - you can make it look so much like windows xp that most people with only a passing interest in computers (likes ebay, and amazon, uses google, and browses shoe shops) will not notice the difference - My missus was using xubuntu for months before it crossed her mind that it was different to XP or windows 7
