an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

Hey everyone,
first i wanna give a thanks for this awesome polished distro....BL define together with AL my favorite Distro for everyday usage!

Got small Issue i couldnt fix yet...
Installing of BL went fine so far... but somehow i managed to miss configured scaling and now everything looks large expect for the tint panels. it went first unnoticed until a reboot on the next day....:-> all i remember was accidentally pressing a key on my keyboard in combination with slipping a mouse click...think the mouse pointer went large immediately before the reboot, but i didn't investigated it further since it was already way to late :-/

i looked at the xressources but the dpi scaling isnt affected by this, resolution is also correct....so where else to look for scaling and what could it be according to my missbehaviour?

big_smile

a thanks in advance and hello to everyone!

have you tried the Openbox Config Manager and changing the theme (Preferences > Openbox WM Manager)? I achieved something like the opposite of what you have, intentionaly by choosing an HDPI theme.

yess, tried this with no luck (logout and back should be enough to see he changes i guess?) thanks for your hint, pretty sure its somehow to my behaviour related.

what i also noticed: even at the login page everything i scaled as it should be....

will wait a bit longer for some tips, otherwise i reeinstall tomorrow to get rid of it...dont like fixing things like this tough big_smile

Re: an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

It sounds just like an Accessibility option. But I have no idea how hmm

Does the issue persist if you disable compositing? ( Menu -> Preferences -> Compositing)

Also, post the output of the xrandr command (using '[ code ]' tags please)

compositing seems not to affect the issues

You can investigate and set various aspects of your screen with this HowTo, for example: How to Find and Change Screen DPI in Linux

Re: an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

thanks for that i am usually firm with scale settings on linux in general since a got notebook with a 4k screen.
so none of the solutions on that site seems to affect my scaling problems :-(

want to add that i am on 2k screen and the resolution is setup right

i'm a little unsure about what your problem is?
can you post a (link to a) screenshot?
that would probably explain it best.

and obviously it would be really good to know what you did when your mouse "accidenatlly slipped & clicked".

Re: an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

as you wish... looks like a general scale that doesnt apply to tint and login manager

i understand that its hard to solve without knowing what i did exactly....but i couldnt figure it out yet. sorry for that
is there an option to reset everything instead reinstalling?

Re: an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

i see.
what is too big and what is too small in your opinion?
tint2 always needs to be configured manually, it does not follow global dpi settings or some such.

Re: an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

hahaha does this look like a 2 k resolution with 96dpi to you? smile
I will reinstall later and show you how it looked like at the beginning, even the mouse pointer is huge

I would have prefered a simple, non-facetious answer to my question.
I was not mocking you.
Maybe you forget that screen resoltion is not the same as screen size, and your screenshot can look very different on a different screen.

Re: an hello to bunsenlabs... and a misconfigured scaling issue (selfmade)

I wasn't offended or feeling mocked in any way wink
and of course for this kind of problem it would be necesary to open the screenshot in the native resolution i uploaded, not just watching it here resized inline.
