December 2018 Screenshot Thread

First a message from our sponsors:

Welcome to the monthly BL Screenshot thread! We hope it inspires you to customize your dekstop.

Please use thumbnails. Do not embed images larger than approx 250x250px (62,500px) into posts, use thumbnails linking to a hosted image instead. Thanks!

We recommend https://www.scrot.moe/ for image uploads. After uploading your image, click "Embed codes" and copy/paste the "Thumbnail image (linked) BBCode" at the bottom of the page, done.

To open the posted scrot.moe thumbnail fullscreen in Firefox, scroll down to the Download icon on the right (next to Like and Share), right-click it and choose "Open Link in New Tab" to open the screenshot in a new browser tab, then switch to that tab.

scrot.moe was created and is maintained by our very own mrneilypops, a long-time forum member.  Thank you very much, mrneilypops!

Re: December 2018 Screenshot Thread

Nice PR, the "sponsor" quote is clutch.

Screenshot_20181201_215256.th.png

I just saw my first clip of this, my favorite Marvel character, yesterday. The show has been cancelled.

Brilliant. One track shot, no shakey-cam, no jump cuts, action inferred off camera, it's great (Warning, depiction of fake violence, but still pretty realistic. He breathes hard.)...

It's sad that Netflix is pulling out of Marvel or Marvel out of Netflix. They made some great shows.

At the moment my laptop also shows a Marvel wallpaper:

Re: December 2018 Screenshot Thread

Launching a terminal to launch a GUI that does not take over the terminal is retarded. By the way, does anyone know a non-stacking floating WM? i.e. you can't move or resize a window to be on top of another

@doxanthropos That's a pretty dank setup. i3-gaps, patrician taste.
@Nili Indeed it is! Time for something more crude. tongue Those colors go really well with that wallpaper, well done.

Here's mine, I use this hard disk on both my laptop and my desktop. My bashrc on tty1 runs a script that glues together an i3 config depending on laptop-detect and does startx, changing i3's behavior accordingly:

Laptop (tiling) mode on left and desktop (stacking) mode on the right.

The world won't change for the better unless we trust people. Trust is vital in a peaceful world but that will never happen.

Not really; but take a look at goomwwm

Interesting window manager, but it needs an external key grabber like xbindkeys to launch applications. Keybindings for window layout are coded in.

Plasma 5.14.4.

Normally, I only use one large monitor now, multiple screens are pretty annoying to manage. Spending way too much time in my new favourite application of the day now, YACReader.

Re: December 2018 Screenshot Thread

So, I just ended up redoing my FVWM config with @PackRat 's

Got a new gnome-smells setup using only FVWM's built in stuff (panel built from FVWM swallowed stuff instead of polybar), gsimplecal, stalonetray, rofi, and mate apps for filler.  Also a new wall from home before it started snowing hard.  Take a look see.

Re: December 2018 Screenshot Thread

Tinkering with fluxbox's pipemenu capability:

screen-import-2018-12-05_1544020162.th.png

originally meant as an internal wallpaper changer, it ended up being called "wallpapers"; but it works to open playlists, menus, documents ....

You can copy the default xfdesktop menu to $HOME/.config/menus then edit it to mimic your openbox menu. I think they're both xml format, but for some reason I recall that you can't use your openbox menu directly.

Fvwm - using FvwmButtons to make tint2 play nice with Fvwm:
