I'm already a Nextcloud user and I'd like to install a client for it on Helium. I've read the "How can I add new software" sticky and I also saw that @martix installed it on this thread but I wanted to check first before breaking everything
The Nextcloud website seems to suggest using the following PPA (https://launchpad.net/~nextcloud-devs/+ … ntu/client) but if I've understood correctly, that is not a good idea?
There are some .deb files on http://download.opensuse.org/repositori … ebian_9.0/ - should I just download the .deb file and open with gdebi?

It's not just one deb file. If you want to do it manually, you'll have to download a collection that apt would install automatically if the repo was attached. But you can do it manually if you just keep getting the ones that gdebi is missing.
I like using apt to install multiple local debs at once, though. Doing them one at a time with gdebi gets old pretty quick. There's a way to add a right-click action to install with apt that I knew once upon a time, but I have a package that adds the same to my main file manager, Dolphin.

i guess there's a reason this repository exists.
i guess it's better than using the ppa.
maybe try to get a little extra information about this repository, maybe the creator has sth to say about it. where'd you get the link?
then, maybe it can be added to sources.list? i'm sure stevep would know how.

Thanks for the replies. Both the ppa and the repository are linked to from the Nextcloud website.
Here are the Nextcloud installation instructions: https://nextcloud.com/install/#install-clients
And the Nextcloud forum post on linux packages: https://help.nextcloud.com/t/linux-pack … atus/10216

@martix installed it on this thread
As mentioned on the Nextcloud help page, I used the jurisic repo (deb http://apt.jurisic.org/debian/ stretch main contrib non-free) - no complaints so far, it's been working fine. Nextcloud is great, it's got Calendar (based on CalDAV, also CardDAV), video and audio chat, Collabora as g* docs replacement, etc. There are also many free providers like disroot or zaclys.
