As part of the final stages of development before the Helium release, the BunsenLabs Team has been conducting a thorough examination of the typographical possibilities for the new version.

The default fonts (and in particular sans-serif) are of utmost importance because they form part of the first impression and can be critical for, eg, DistroWatch reviews.

In recognition of this fact, we have made the bold decision to change the default sans-serif font to Comic Sans (the Microsoft version).

Our research indicates that the design paradigms of this much-maligned font are second-to-none and it has the added advantage of being more readable for those with dyslexia.[1]

I have just made the necessary changes in our github page:

The package maintainers are away over the Easter holiday so to apply the changes manually simply edit the file at ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf so that it looks like this:

Then install the font package:

sudo apt install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

Check with:

alpine:~$ fc-match sans 
comic.ttf: "Comic Sans MS" "Regular"
alpine:~$

And here's how it should look afterwards:

I do think wingdings would have been a much better choice.

Could be worse, you could be drinking Double Brown from NZ.....or worse yet, Budweiser.

I must admit that is a very Gothic like font. You need some very old school My Dying Bride playing while using that font. I'd also expect you to be sipping red wine from a gold goblet.

I like it, but one may not forget religious users:

I'd prefer "URW Chancery L bold italic" as it's modern, stylish, easy to read and it doesn't endanger kittens.

This is hilarious! It was written so thoroughly, that if another font was mentioned I would not have checked the date.
