Fresh Helium-dev install, traditional theme:

Note also fully working[1] version of the latest Meson Build for ksh93 cool

[1] that build is actually broken, testing is fun.

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

Had a go at editing thermrc file, managed to change some colors and add some borders. Some new icon theme, different font as well.

Nice work glasses

I'm settling in to my new Helium-dev system:

2017-12-24-141922_1920x1080_scrot.th.png

Stripped out gvfs, tumbler & ssh-client (why do we have that?) and changed from NetworkManager to systemd-networkd and from LightDM to a console login.

It now boots to ~150MiB used, which is pretty good for a 64-bit desktop (with frills).

EDIT: systemd-networkd is quite a bit faster than NetworkManager, that's for sure:

28ms systemd-networkd.service

Hellafast cool

Slowly learning how to modify Openbox from themes downloaded at opendesktop.org.

Created my own .xbm window buttons via gimp. Messed about with colours and settings also.

Have you ever checked `htop` after closing the file manager?

The tumbler processes are like an army of zombies, it's quite infuriating (for me).

True story: the version of thunar in stretch still shows thumbnails even after tumbler is purged. Which is nice.

Anyway, back on topic with OpenBSD-current:

Re: December 2017 Screenshot Thread

^Hoas, im sticking with Arch these days. I still admire debian and Bunsenlabs and will surely use Helium when it comes out. Not noticed nor do i pay attention to that but you got me thinking i should so i started conky back up and gave it a refresh. Conky will be used like any other launched app (its own window), i dont like apps stuck on my desktop, im always fidgeting with them wink. Ive also decided (for now) to not run any composite managers and just go with solid themes, easy on my eyes.

On topic.

EDIT: systemd is looking very bloat-ridden in that scrot hmm

OpenRC stays below 1MiB in my Alpine Linux system.

EDIT: compare and contrast:
