[SOLVED] dropbox always creates autostart file

Hi All,

in Dropbox I have deselected the 'start on system startup' option and in my ~/.config/lxsession/LXDE/autostart I do not have dropbox as a startup program...

However, every time I open Dropbox it automatically creates a dropbox.desktop file in ~/.config/autostart which I always have to manually remove if I don't want Dropbox to run automatically at startup.

I have also tried "dropbox autostart n" but yet, whenever I open dropbox I get the dropbox.desktop file in ~/.config/autostart

Do you also have this problem? Any ideas on how to sort it out?

Cheers!

Re: [SOLVED] dropbox always creates autostart file

^ Is this a question about BunsenLabs, which uses Openbox by default? If not, it should be in Help & Support (Other) wink

The Openbox autostart file has the following comments

## Note: some programs, such as 'nm-applet' are run via XDG autostart.
## Run
## /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/openbox-xdg-autostart --list
## or
## /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/openbox-xdg-autostart --list
## to list any XDG autostarted programs.

Is there something similar for your LXDE system?

Re: [SOLVED] dropbox always creates autostart file

Hi steve, the solution proposed on arch forum doesn't apply in my case since "dropobox-cli" is not installed. But thanks for the hint smile

@Damo, mine is a heavily customized BL and I have installed a lot of LXDE stuff, but I believe it's still BL...

Nothing in the autostart file points to dropbox. The problem is with Dropbox creating the autostart file automatically in ~/.config/autostart any time I open dropbox...

Re: [SOLVED] dropbox always creates autostart file

Last post in that thread....

By the way the problem fixed itself. I ran dropbox autostart n and check in the tick again, cleared it, and somehow it's fixed... I have no idea how.

So i am thinking the method was as follows.

1. run "dropbox autostart n"

2. clear the tick in "Start Dropbox on system startup"

3. remove the dropbox.desktop file ---> maybe as root?
