Live image is missing LVM tools

Our current default package list (and hence live ISO image) does not have lvm2 — this is needed to mount LVM partitions.

Re: Live image is missing LVM tools

Necessary, but also sufficient?
If so, let's add it to the next iso builds anyway.

Is there any point in adding it to the netinstall or bunsen-meta-all lists though?

I think so but I don't have any personal experience of LVM.

I don't think so, the Debian installer will provide whatever is needed for the running system and there doesn't seem much point having the package if it isn't needed.

OK it goes on the list for when the next isos are built.

As long as the LVM partition is in a supported file system. Are btrfs-tools and xfsprogs (seem to be common formats used) installed by default?

btrfs-tools is installed by BL, but this may change to btrfs-progs.

Re: Live image is missing LVM tools

Vote for including lvm2 into all images. It's essential for at least my systems, and LVM based partition/volume layouts have been offered by the Debian installer (at least the CLI one, don't know about the graphical variant) for a long time, meaning that it's probably wise to expect LVM to be present.

Add xfsprogs too?

Re: Live image is missing LVM tools

^ Yes, we need all the filesystems for the live image, if not the installed system.

So the packages would be:

dosfstools # FAT
e2fsprogs # ext{2,3,4}
xfsprogs # xfs
btrfs-progs # btrfs; the old -tools package is just a transitional package that depends on this
f2fs-tools # f2fs is intended for USB sticks and the like, I use it myself
ntfs-3g # Windows
hfsprogs # HFS+ (Mac OS X)

I think ReiserFS & JFS are a little left-field (even for me) but we could include those as well.
