That's so magical. I liked AntiX and have 13.2 on an old laptop that's sitting in my closet.
Digging the crumpled paper icons too.

@PackRat, Thanks! Sure on a black console background looks great just like your above scrot, but since i use white color, I'm doing better with Inconsolata.

I bought a new laptop. It came with Windows 10. I have no major complaints with Windows 10 yet. They will probably arise eventually. Still running various incarnations of Debian on my older machines.

After one week, 60 more packages installed and couple of UI tweaks, I'm very happy with BL at work. Next milestone will be 1 month uptime and final assessment about reliability of the software soup I've installed after first boot up. Still searching for an editor and file manager. Atom seems to be the best candidate so far since it has all the features I need, even if it's heavy on RAM. But... I have zero candidates for file manager. I've got used to Total Commander, its features and plugins, and it seems like I'm too picky about this one.
Did I mention I'm very happy with BL?
*drumroll*
...and here comes the screenshot that looks almost the same as my last one.

Sector11, thank you for quick comparison of available file managers, especially for mentioning Tux Commander! I thought little bugger died years ago. Will give it a shot tomorrow and see what one penguin general can do for a simple human.
yes - Tux Commander (tuxcmd)

@Nili - nice. Can you post the .Xresources for that in the .Xresources thread.
I've been playing with herbstluftwm for a few nights, it's frying my brain
it'll do that
still an excellent wm though.

Thanks Glenn! Yeah HLWM is one of the few awesome Window Manager.
I'm not very expert either, Just playing with my minimum strengths Yes is a great WM.

For months now I've been enjoying KDE 5. It's truly the most advanced desktop available on Linux
I have KWin set to not decorate main windows and have created rules for applications to be assigned to only get assigned to certain desktops, panel is hidden, as shown with Dolphin above, and I use most applications maximized. KWin has manual tiling built-in with the option of automatic tiling via custom scripts, but I used to use dwm with maximized windows all the time anyway (my computer's screen is small+hi-res) so there my workflow still is well-supported.
One thing I like about KDE's Qt theming is that like those old GTK2 themes which allowed you to customize their aspect colours, KDE doesn't need 50 themes but usually Breeze is enough with 20+ and custom colour palettes plus icon shading options! The palette I'm using now all the time is called `Obsidian Coast`…

I have to admit that if I was to install a proper "desktop" KDE would be on the top of the list.
I tried GNOME years ago and didn't like it so for me Gnome, or derivatives, are lower down on the list. XFCE has been here, it's OK but ... mmmmmm. You are the third person I "know" now that's using KDE, Crinos512 (Kbuntu), unklar (KDE with Mageia)
Curious what's your underlying system? Debian Stretch? Certainly not Jessie » Version: 4:4.14.2-1

For months now I've been enjoying KDE 5.
Burn the heathen!
J/K KDE 5 is rather nice. I prefer openbox, but KDE is nice. It used to be my default for years and before that Gnome 2.3 (which I still miss, and which Mate and Cinnamon do not replicate even though they try to).
Anyway, mind sharing the wall?

and so simple. And yet everybody rushes aroound in a great panic
as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.
